A political identity: human being

Phil Beaver seeks to collaborate on the-objective-truth, which can only be discovered. The comment box below invites readers to write.

"Civic" refers to citizens who collaborate for individual happiness with civic integrity more than for the city, state, nation, or society.

Consider writing a personal paraphrase of the preamble, which offers fellow citizens mutual equality:  For discussion, I convert the preamble’s predicate phrases to nouns and paraphrase it for my interpretation of its proposal as follows:  This appreciative individual practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, "in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage it to “our Posterity. I want to improve my interpretation by listening to other citizens and their interpretations yet would preserve the original, 1787, text, unless it is amended by the people.

It seems the Supreme Court occasionally refers to it, and no one has challenged whether or not the preamble is a legal statement. The fact that it changed this independent country from a confederation of states to a union of states deliberately managed by disciplined fellow citizens convinces me the preamble is legal. Equity in opportunity and outcome is shared by the people who collaborate for human justice.

Every citizen has equal opportunity to either trust-in and collaborate-on the goals stated in the preamble or be dissident to the agreement. I think 2/3 of citizens try somewhat to use the preamble but many do not articulate commitment to the goals. However, it seems less than 2/3 understand that “posterity” implies grandchildren. “Freedom of religion,” which fellow citizens have no means to discipline, oppresses freedom to develop integrity.

Selected theme from this week’s posts

Suggesting a political identity: human being

Again, “identity politics” seems a new expression for an ancient practice.

If most individuals considered themselves first human beings actually charged to "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over . . . every living creature . . . on the earth" (Gen 1:28, CJB), we might perceive each other with civic integrity rather than as mysterious souls competing for supremacy in life and speculative favor in afterdeath.

However, many people take for granted ideological identities that inspire self-licensing to kill fellow humans. Who would have expected the careless murder of babies and adolescents on the streets of Atlanta, Chicago, Portland, and other centers of democracy at the end of some 6 decades attempting to overthrow the American republic?

Lethal identities derive from the mysteries of the soul: religions and philosophies. Judeo-Christianity was not a consequence of Christian-Judaism. Islam arose from the consequence of polygany. African-American Christianity is influenced by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and pre-dates the European Christianity that by default tried to impose the image of a white God; http://blackyouthproject.com/christianity-white-mans-religion-feeds-damaging-disconnect-diaspora-africa/ Both whites and blacks may consider themselves first human beings.

The American dream, proffered in 1787, is predicated on individuals accepting that they are human and developing a culture of responsible human independence as each perceives the U.S. Preamble’s proposition: individual happiness with civic integrity. It’s time has come, and Anglo-American politics may yield to the U.S. Preamble’s proposition: 5 disciplines “in order to” encourage responsible human independence to “ourselves and our Posterity.”

I agree with your premise and expression.

I would add a few points.

First, it makes no sense to try to mimic someone else, because there is no way to understand that person, even if they earnestly speak to you. For example, no one knows what James Madison meant by “the light of Christianity . . . ought to be . . . imparted to the whole race of mankind.” See Founders Online: Memorial and Remonstrance against Religious Assessments, [ca. ….

What if “the light” Madison hid agreed with Ralph Waldo Emerson’s suggestion “Jesus . . . estimated the greatness of man. [To be] perfect, [man] is born, low as he now lies.” See EMERSON - ESSAYS - DIVINITY SCHOOL ADDRESS. In other words, each human is capable to perfect his or her unique person.

Emerson expresses that it is not possible to perfect your person without sufficient humility toward whatever-God-is. Madison seems to express the same principle in other words: “[T]he duty which we owe to our Creator and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence.”

Anyway, we can be impressed with the need to accept that each person is a human being, and the mystery “soul” is due sufficient humility.

Second, life begins long before birth. The mature woman practices care for her body, mind, and psychology out of civic integrity to both herself and each unique ova her body will produce. The viable ova may be inseminated by her spouses’ uniquely well spermatozoon. I assume so, because choosing an authentic spouse is part of her obligation to her viable ova, perhaps 400 during her fertile years. Authentic “ourselves,” male and female, stay well so as to encourage “Posterity.”

Third, the mature person who takes a setback due to disease or tragedy may perfect his or her person as he or she is.

https://www.quora.com/Is-identity-the-most-divisive-thing-in-the-world?

No. It’s a civilization-influenced choice each human being might take. His or her human acceptances cannot be consigned to another person or ideology. He or she must develop self-discipline to a nest of acceptances.

Accepting being a human being. Accepting that acquiring the comprehension and intention to live a complete human lifetime is self-interest that requires integrity. Accepting the three phases of human integrity: it takes about 3 decades learning, with intolerance toward opinion that does not conform to the ineluctable evidence; another 4 decades self-disciplining in a service fellow-humans (“ourselves”) need and want “in order to” benefit from mutual, comprehensive safety and security; and perhaps another 2 decades sharing with (“our Posterity”) the lessons learned and mistakes journaled. (The quotes cite the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.)

Perhaps the most urgent good is the suggestion that the human being is born with the individual power, the individual energy, and the individual authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity to self rather than tolerate infidelity. Thus, the vital young-adult intention is accepting the discipline to perfect his or her unique person during life, regardless of the mystery of soul.

As civilizations emerged and disappeared, leaving their influences on subsequent cultures, the principles of acceptance presented above have not risen to execution by any peoples. Consequently, much less than 1% of the world’s population might articulate them in their words. Since no culture shares these principles with their young, the world is in chaos and rapidly declining to an abyss.

Our generation, only the 12th since the proffered U.S.-Preamble-proposition to fellow citizens, may accept the privilege of practicing and encouraging responsible human independence. We urge each citizen to develop a personal interpretation of the U.S. Preamble and accept the personal assessment in order to guide his or her development of civic, civil, legal, and spiritual integrity.

I share my interpretation hoping for criticism that will improve what dialogue with more than 70 fellow citizens produced for me: This grateful U.S. citizen practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity “in order to” enjoy responsible human independence with “ourselves” and to encourage “our Posterity.”

Neither the original preamble nor my interpretation makes religion a public discipline. The summers of 2016 and 2020 have taught me that too many people arbitrarily take “liberty” as license to harm property, injure fellow citizens, and incidentally murder children. Also, I could not sustain “responsible human liberty,” as it seems an oxymoron.

The citizen who develops civil integrity can help harmless societies develop identity-benefits. When most fellow citizens accept being human and the responsibility for human independence, groups with special interests such as religions and philosophies may flourish civically and conform civilly and legally to the U.S. Preamble’s proposition.

https://www.quora.com/What-is-evil-What-is-the-difference-between-evil-and-good-What-human-has-the-right-to-say-what-is-right-or-wrong-Why-do-you-believe-your-answer?

Humankind researches to discover the-literal-truth based on the ineluctable evidence in order to conform to physics and its progeny including psychology. That is, physics and integrity are controlled by the same laws. Behavior that defies physics begs woe. For example, appreciative humans avoid lying in order to lessen human misery and loss.

https://www.quora.com/What-constitutes-an-unbearable-criticism?

With a few acceptances, there can be no unbearable criticism.

First, accept that you are a human being.

Second, accept and discipline self during the 3 decades acquisition of comprehension and intention to live a complete human lifetime.

Third, accept the human individual power, individual energy, and individual authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity rather than tolerate infidelity to self.

Fourth, exercise the responsible human independence, equity, and humility to admit that other humans may be at a different point in their development of civic integrity. In other words, they may not agree with you.

With these principles criticism, even of yourself, can prove profitable.

When circumstances seem bad, I recall a Scots-Irish saying: worse things happened to better people.

https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-consequences-of-being-nice-instead-of-being-real?

I learned to treat each person I encounter as a fellow human whom I appreciate as they are and where they are. Consequently, I can talk to them immediately on their topics and perhaps mine.

I never thought I tell it Online. A wonderful story from my past comes to mind.

We four chemical engineers were in Amsterdam on the weekend of the tulip festival. We parked our car in a downtown garage, and when we returned, it was locked.

Some people seemed also frustrated and waiting. We managed to learn where to go to request relief, and we did so. When we returned, we were alone. Six young men approached us and started taunting us in English.

One asked me what state I was from. I replied, “Tennessee.” He said, “Ahh. Tennessee girls are blonde and beautiful. I am going to go to Tennessee and find one and defecate on her head.” His nose was 2” from mine when he said it. Scared, I boldly asked him how to say that in Dutch. All six of them laughed and started teaching me how to say it, I think.

After a while, a man with the key arrived, and we 4 escaped without incident. The other 3 were also grateful.

Again, I thought someone was in my home at 2:00 AM between me and my guns, which I kept near my wife. Breathlessly I considered what I would do if I encountered someone on the way to a gun. I decided I would sincerely ask, “How can I help you?” Now, I keep a gun on the other side of the house.

Normally, I start conversations with people that end with suggestions like this:  The typical intention of monogamy for life is to share the family bond with grandchildren and beyond. I have never encountered rejection of the conversation and am selective based on reception of earlier ideas.

https://www.quora.com/Do-you-think-if-we-admitted-to-ourselves-times-when-we-behaved-unethically-we-would-be-less-likely-to-behave-un-ethically-in-the-future?

I absolutely think admission to self is the first step in correcting either human error or evil.

Ethics and honesty are insufficient, though. Confident serenity comes from no tolerance of infidelity.

I think Agathon, in Plato’s “Symposium” suggested that an appreciative citizen neither initiates nor tolerates harm to or from any person or society. It’s an exacting practice that can be learned.

https://www.quora.com/How-do-you-identify-the-need-for-change?

When a society tries to defy physics and its progeny such as psychology, you can expect change. For example, the clergy has tried to use the mystery of whatever-God-is to pick the people’s pockets with immunity during the last 4 thousand years or more.

Under the Church’s influence, people are persuaded to wait for their personal God to relieve their family of misery and loss, never admitting the obvious: Whatever-God-is assigned to human individuals the responsibility for civic integrity. It is time to end “freedom of religion” so as to establish individual and collective opportunity to develop integrity.

https://www.quora.com/By-refusing-to-hold-a-position-on-something-do-you-by-default-accept-all-positions-or-reject-all-positions?

Think about ignoring/opposing/neglecting traffic laws, for example, running red lights. You are free to run them, risking other citizens’ lives as well as yours. You can run from the police and ignore fines. You have jeopardized your freedom and may face restraint.

The principle applies to citizenship among human beings. Each individual may choose intentions to be a human being or not. He or she may choose to accept citizenship or not. Some choose to be dependent and consequently must, for example, eat the food a bureaucrat chooses for him or her rather than earn the funds to buy his or her preference.

If citizenship is a matter of birth, there is no choice, unless another country will accept your application for citizenship. If you live here and do not participate in citizenship, you are a renter who is depending upon other citizens to defend your freedom. When it comes to your freedom or theirs they are going to act in their self-interest as much as civic integrity allows them, and some will go beyond integrity, honestly or not. Some criminals think crime pays.

I think every U.S. citizen owes it to himself or herself to develop an individual comprehension of the proposition that is offered citizens in the U.S. Preamble. My comprehension today is this:  This appreciative citizen practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, "in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and to encourage “our Posterity.”

Most human beings connect for equity under statutory justice; in other words for continual improvement of written law-enforcement.

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-greatest-evil-humanity-contrives-to-fulfill-as-a-standard-within-each-and-every-family-cultural-perspective-etc-within-every-generation?

Existing cultures do not inform their young to accept being a human person. “Ourselves” does not coach and encourage “our Posterity” to develop the comprehension and intention to live a complete human life.

Each human person has the individual power, the individual energy, and the individual authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity rather than honestly tolerate infidelity.

The standard is integrity to physics and its progeny including psychology. There’s no problem with a human developing a personal God to help him or her face the unknowns, provided he or she reserves sufficient humility toward whatever-God-is. It seems self-evident that each human person has the responsibility to constrain chaos.

https://www.quora.com/What-would-you-want-to-be-different-in-your-own-country-or-community-to-respond-to-issues-of-inequality-inequity-or-injustice?

I promote to fellow citizens individual interpretation of the proffered U.S. Preamble’s proposition. I practice my interpretation and encourage every citizen to develop theirs to guide their civic, civil, legal, and spiritual practices. The preamble specifies 5 public disciplines and leaves spiritual discipline to the individual.

The U.S. Preamble was signed in 1788, and 9 states ratified it in 1788. The First Congress, with 11 states, unfortunately repressed the U.S. Preamble as “secular” and unconstitutionally established America under “freedom of religion” as a tradition. That left the factional-American Protestantisms that prevailed in each state, imposing on the citizens a discipline the U.S. Preamble does not authorize: theism, in particular, either Christian competition or the dominant Christianity in each state.

Non-Christians have long been an oppressed minority in America, with special hatred toward so-called atheists. In many cases, people who are dubbed atheists by theists have the integrity to uphold the law against Christian tyranny. Even though whatever-God-is may not have skin-color, the most repressed God-color is red.

Religion aside, human life begins with the ovum, each of which is unique and may have the dignity a maturing person would like to achieve. When this single cell combines with an also unique spermatozoon, a unique, single-cell zygote divides and travels toward implantation as an embryo. Gestation requires 9 months. The chances of a viable ovum becoming a newborn are about 1 in 200. Thus, viable ova share about 99.5% certainty they will perish, which may be as near 100% human equality as may be expected.

However, some ova suffered the injustice of the mother having drug addiction and passing on the physical and psychological aliments. Some zygotes suffered the inequity of a father who had not bonded with the mother and left after the conception. Some children never experience monogamous spousal family---never experience or observe mutual appreciation in monogamy for life. Chances for any grandchildren are lessened.

Thus, among some of the 0.5% surviving ova, there are variations in equity and justice toward the ova’s dignity, but little chance of equality. It takes about 3 decades for a newborn to acquire the comprehension and intention to live a complete human lifetime, and the variations in coaching and encouragement to the individual are tragic if not tyrannical. Perhaps less than 0.02 percent of human individuals ever accept their power, energy, and authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity. I’d like to experience 2/3 of fellow citizens working on an achievable better future.

This tragic condition within humankind could be improved if most people would consider, interpret, and develop their personal practice of the U.S. Preamble’s proposition. My interpretation today is: This appreciative person practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, “in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage “our Posterity”. I welcome comments that motivate me to improve.

In the original sentence, there is no public discipline respecting religion. Whereas the original cites “Liberty” as the purpose, the violence in 2020 has demonstrated more than ever that dissident citizens too often regard egocentric “rights” as license to damage property, injure fellow citizens, and kill anyone present. “Responsible human liberty” seems a contradiction: all humans must independently and collectively conform to physics and its progeny, including psychology. I suggest the-literal-truth, most of which I do not know.

https://www.quora.com/What-went-wrong-with-humans-What-could-weve-done-differently-to-have-a-better-world-today?

I don’t accept your premise: Humans are not making the world better.

Consider the United States. Alinsky-Marxist organizations (AMO) are perpetrating violence funded by foreigners and aliens who don’t know enough about U.S. intentions to be traitors.

Nevertheless, the AMO groups are getting the attention of the colonial-British-traditionalists that by Congressional tyranny hostage the U.S. in Chapter XI Machiavellianism. The church-state-partnership picks the people’s pockets and the people wait for their personal God to relieve their grandchildren from the misery and pain.

The proffered preamble to the U.S. Constitution has never been embraced by a U.S. generation. It’s time has come. As soon as 2/3 of fellow citizens own their personal interpretation of the U.S. Preamble’s proposition so as to guide their civic, civil, legal, and spiritual living, an achievable better future will be felt with great acclaim, celebration, and joy.

I share my interpretation so willing fellow citizens may prompt me to improve my behavior: This appreciative person practices and promotes 5 public discipliens---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, “in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage “our Posterity.”

https://www.quora.com/Immanuel-Kant-said-Thoughts-without-content-are-empty-intuitions-without-concepts-are-blind-Do-you-consider-this-a-fair-statement-or-has-Kant-missed-something-in-his-statement?

Jack says “I’m in love with Jill,” never asking Jill if she’s attracted to Jack. Jack attempts to make love with Jill, un-attentive to the viable-ovum she protects. Jack is both empty and blind.

Perhaps to impress participants in a conference on Science and Religion, Albert Einstein (d. 1955) said, "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." Did he mimic thought from Kant (d. 1804)? Did he mean something like research without imagination is lame, belief without evidence is blind?

I consider the quote Einstein’s failure to express himself rather than confound a conference. Consequently, humankind will never have confidence that they understand Einstein’s message.

No.

There’s only one viable society among humankind: the faction of inhabitants who behave for mutual, comprehensive safety and security.

The leading civilizations in the world are discovering this principle. Within each civilization there are individuals who have always perceived this principle but have not articulated it in ways that most fellow citizens immediately confirm it based on personal experiences and observations.

The preamble to the U.S. Constitution proffers a people’s proposition that each citizen may consider and interpret for his or her self-interest. On that consideration, citizens divide them self in to two groups: civic citizens and dissidents according to the proposition as each individual interprets it for the self-interest they prefer.

I share my interpretation hoping a reader will improve my behavioral choices: This appreciative person practices and promotes 5 public disciplines: integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity “in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage “our Posterity.”

https://www.quora.com/Is-hope-an-emotion-or-a-virtue?

I think hope is a virtue unless disappointment by discovery of the-literal-truth cannot be tolerated.

Adapting Albert Einstein’s words to my interpretation, “[Research] uses [the ineluctable evidence] to build up its coherent systems [never] not expressing emotions. For the researcher, there is only “being,” but no wishing, no valuing, no good, no evil; no goal.” See Einstein’s essay at My Friend Einstein? | Sam Harris.

The research has the trust-in and commitment-to the ineluctable evidence representing the-liberal-truth but would not allow hopes to compromise the-objective-truth, which, with each improvement in perception approaches the-literal-truth.

I doubt it.

I speculate it’s appreciation for fellow humans, humility, and attraction to dialogue.

To Mark Wickman:

If you are British, I doubt you are referring to chain-bound FLT as in New York’s https://www.alleganyhistory.org/index.php/culture/stories-and-folklore/fact-based-stories/2130-flt-what-is-the-meaning-on-tombstone yet you may be.

In any event, “A culture of responsible human liberty” is not dependent on chain-bound Friendship, Love, and Truth---three subjective practices. The culture allows inhabitants to divide themselves into two factions: those who want mutual, comprehensive safety and security, and those who want to take advantage of the first group, call them civic citizens.

So far, existing and past civilizations show that there will always be people who do not appreciate citizenship and will not or cannot commit to human equity under statutory justice. Therefore, the civic citizens specify systems of law-enforcement and, as injustice is discovered, revise written law so as to approach statutory justice.

The civic citizens are drawn to responsible human liberty by an abundance of evidence that it is in their self-interest; in other words, civic integrity is in fellow citizens’ best interests, and dissidents are encouraged to reform but may suffer the rule of law beforehand.

I appreciate your comment and hope I came close to addressing your FLT. If not, maybe let me know.

To Mark Wickman:

I appreciate your response and regret not recognizing your reference to my premise.

If you take the time to understand tRoTS, you may catch my meaning that humankind spends its money according to FLT, unfortunately after much ado about costly personal opinion and individual tyranny in place of civic connection.

https://www.quora.com/When-trying-to-do-good-deeds-what-can-you-expect?

I think you can expect your mind’s suggestion that you imposed your golden rule on the other party. In other words, you imposed on them what you judge you would want were you in their situation as you perceive it, regardless of what they think.

Cultures try to impose on inhabitants the lifetime search for higher power. However, the human individual is endowed with the power, energy, and authority (HIPEA) with which to develop integrity to self rather than tolerate infidelity. Even though his or her culture denies it, he or she will not accept what someone perceives as his or her happiness.

Consider almsgiving. You stop at a traffic light and a healthy-looking poor person steps up with a sign asking for money. He or she dreads the collection-encounter, hoping for $10 but expecting change and wishes he or she would do the inevitable: return to work. You proffer a dollar and feel doubtful. You drive away wondering why there was not “thank you” and why collecting money is more attractive than getting a job. You mind reasons that you imposed his or her will to collect money by giving. You decide to seek other-party-encouraging use of your charity.

https://www.quora.com/Should-accepting-charity-be-degrading-or-humbling?

Humankind, aware or not, works to conform to the laws of physics and its progeny, such as psychology. Thus, considerable human-years are dedicated to discovering the-objective-truth, inventing new instruments by which to perceive it, and perhaps approach if not attain the-literal-truth.

It seems that physics unfolds with consequences for each unique human potential that range, from dependence, to responsible independence, to potential to push the envelope of discovered integrity. When a human being is born with dependence, he or she needs assistance in order to develop viable independence perhaps leading to self-responsibility. Such persons perceive appreciation on par with the person who is born statistically viable or better.

The person who perceives that the first requisite for human equity with statutory justice is to earn the lifestyle he or she demands, appreciates the opportunity to do so and develops the self-discipline so as to achieve personal happiness with civic integrity. The person who demands the lifestyle without the attendant self-discipline suffers guilt and pride.

There’s no humility in pride---only guilt. (That’s my opinion---the-literal-truth only if so.)

https://www.quora.com/unanswered/Is-Malows-hierarchy-of-needs-still-relevant?

“Maslow’s needs” is a theory of human motivation, and as such should be developed as “Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Independence” so as to encourage self-discipline rather than dependency.

The overlapping developments depicted at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs#/media/File:Dynamic_hierarchy_of_needs_-_Maslow.svg perhaps represents a typical lifetime of some 4 decades.

A culture of public-discipline so at to encourage responsible human independence might bring about a sixth peak: “ourselves” sharing with “our Posterity” the records of success/failure in the personal development of civic integrity. Such a culture is proffered by the preamble to the U.S. Constitution for each citizen to consider and accept/reject. Posterity’s posterity will disover the standards of achievement.

https://www.quora.com/Do-bad-people-just-take-a-risky-but-rewarding-road-right?

I don’t think so.

It’s a matter of discovering and resisting all the negative metaphysical influences on your person. Thereby, your body and mind can focus on the self-discipline needed to develop the life your psychologically mature person wanted. Your life is the accumulation of choices made, small and large. You choose a life of either integrity or infidelity to your person as each decision is made.

With these principles, people choose their unique, human paths to their good or their bad.

I’m thinking of one example. I was reared Southern Baptist and my wife is Louisiana French-Catholic. I did not know it when I asked her for a date (to a night of romantic suggestion presented by Dionne Warwick), but what attracted me to her was serene confidence. By all accounts I’m familiar with I was correct to think we were both Christians. However, our respective churches would not encourage the marriage without the other spouse converting.

You won’t believe it, but just this morning, for the first time, my purpose in looking back as I started to leave our private quarters was to see if she opened her eyes. I wanted to exercise a discovery after 53 years of “I love you.”

She did. I went to her bedside and kissed her and said, “I adore you” for perhaps the third time over the last week. Then, I sang one of my favorites, “You are So Beautiful” like Joe Cocker (peace), and ended with, “I’m singing about your person.” She’ll arise under our daughter’s special care, in 2 to 3 hours.

The bad person if she or he reaches chronological maturity may lament that he or she did not own an interpretation of the proffered U.S. Preamble’s proposition to individuals. Mine is:  This grateful citizen practices 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, “in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage “our Posterity.” I share it hoping to learn an improvement.

I wish Mom and Dad had each taught me their interpretations of the U.S. Preamble and encouraged me to choose a religion if I was unsatisfied with trust-in and commitment-to the-literal-truth based on the ineluctable evidence. Mom and Dad left my future to her and his personal Gods, perhaps never considering humility toward whatever-God-is. Thankfully, both 1) I learned that my wife’s trust and commitment to her motivations and inspirations are precious to me for her and 2) we help ourselves and family discover our persons.

My story is about overcoming not only external constraints such as indoctrination but internal constraints such as heterophobia---the fear of monogamy for life with spouse and family. In other words, fidelity to grandchildren and beyond: our posterity.

https://www.quora.com/Can-liberty-and-equality-co-exist?

I don’t think so.

Liberty is too often taken a license to damage property, injure people, and murder fellow citizens.

Each human being is unique, so equality is impossible and not human construct can change that.

We can work for and expect responsible human independence in civic equity.

https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-greatest-instance-of-Well-that-backfired-in-all-of-history?

Two events come to mind, one the-literal-truth and the other I don’t know.

First, 9 free and independent states ratified the U.S. Constitution with intentions to amend it, and none of the other 4 states stepped up to ratify without amendment. As a consequence, the First Congress re-established Chapter XI Machiavellianism---the partnership of factional-American Protestantism with Congress. Church and state pick the people’s pockets and the people neither rebel nor emigrate, hoping and taking comfort that their personal God will someday end the misery and loss to their posterity.

Bibles were canonized---the Catholic Church and The Orthodox Tewahedo churches, for examples. The Bibles make Jesus a divinity. However, no one knows that Jesus’s message was not:  As a human being, you have the individual power, the individual energy, and the individual authority (HIPEA) to perfect your unique lifetime. As a consequence, many believers watch their opportunity to develop integrity pass by as they pray for eternal life during their afterdeath---a mystery. It seems prudent to reserve sufficient humility toward whatever-God-is.

https://www.quora.com/Why-are-some-freedoms-e-g-freedom-of-speech-viewed-as-more-important-than-enforcing-objective-good-while-other-freedoms-classified-as-criminal-are-viewed-as-less-important-than-enforcing-objective-good?

I like the questions I read into your premise and will answer them in my view. Most members of Congress are not and never were of “We the People of the United States in order to . . .”

In the U.S., freedoms of speech, of the press, and of religion are erroneous acts of the First Congress’s obligation to amend the 1787 U.S. Constitution, especially to mimic England’s 1689 Bill of Rights.

I ponder your questions in light of my interpretation of the proffered U.S. Preamble’s people’s proposition: This appreciative individual practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, "in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage it to “our Posterity. I want to recite the U.S. Preamble verbatim in public with fellow citizens mentally expressing their individual interpretations.

Speech, publication, and religion, in conformity to the U.S. Preamble is constrained by the speaker, the publisher, or the religious citizen, respectively, and if not, We the People of the United States may hold them accountable. However, Congress says in the First Amendment that Congress will not constrain these activities. Thus, Congress placed itself in conflict with the U.S. Preamble’s “We the People of the United States in order to . . .” Alexander Hamilton, in Federalist 84 (1788), argued against a Bill of Rights, and covered press “liberty.”

We observe in 2020 that once again license is taken to damage property, injure people, and murder fellow citizens for egocentric “liberty” or “rights.” With these insights, I interpret the U.S. Preamble’s “Blessings of Liberty” as “enjoy responsible human independence.”

From a practical standpoint, I want freedom of speech so that liars may freely identify themselves, leaving it to me to opine that they are liars and vote against them. For examples, I would not vote for Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, what’s his name Nadler, Mitt Romney, and many other self-exposed liars. Also, I want my neighbor to freely express objections to President Donald Trump’s administration so that I can take advantage of---benefit from---enjoy the blessings of---a fellow-citizen’s viewpoint.

Freedom of the press is wrong-minded. The press needs constraint when the writer arbitrarily opposes the U.S. Preamble. The press has duties the U.S. Constitution ought to specify. For example, the press ought to independently (without government oversight) inform the people. The press ought to journal the continuous “ourselves” journey toward conforming to the U.S. Preamble’s intentions under the ineluctable evidence. The press out to independently encourage “our Posterity.” By addressing freedom of the press, Congress obfuscated the people’s role in holding the press accountable.

Engineers rate 66% in call it reliability compared to Senators at and Congresspersons’ at 13% and 12%, respectively; https://news.gallup.com/poll/274673/nurses-continue-rate-highest-honesty-ethics.aspx. Writers for the press rate 28% if deemed “journalists.” Some of them delete engineers from the Gallup report: https://news.gallup.com/poll/245597/nurses-again-outpace-professions-honesty-ethics.aspx. Also, Google Chrome drives the search down the URL list to discover that engineers are included in the Gallop poll.

It isn’t easy, but the perseverant reader can discover liars, so let liars identify themselves.

Let me know if I did not answer your drift.

Only one comes to mind: the self-discipline to develop integrity rather than satisfaction with honesty.

Coach and encourage babies through adolescents to accept: that he or she is a human being and that each person has the individual power, the individual energy, and the individual authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity throughout his or her unique lifetime.

No infrastructure compares with a nation’s human potential to develop integrity.

It’s surprising that so many scholars, like Assistant Professor Coleman, ignore the U.S.-proffered purpose, which is stated in the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Preamble. Some scholars seem held hostage by elected society---a faction within humankind.

I adapt Coleman’s conclusion as indicated in the following: “Before we consign the Founder’s regime to . . . longings, conservatives . . . must begin the arduous . . . teaching . . . that free republicans do not live in a homogenized, consolidated nation. Instead, they respect the sovereignty of the individual [in his or her] state [and] actively participate in the exercise of [civic integrity according to a personally developed comprehension of the preamble to the U.S. Constitution negotiated by the 55 framers and published by the 39 signers, potentially terminating the Founders’ erroneous British-colonial traditions].”

The First Congress, including three 1787 non-signing framers---Eldridge Gerry, Caleb Strong, and Richard Henry Lee, imposed civil “freedom of religion” in the states by declaring that Congress would not legislate religion, temporarily distracting the people from the pursuit of civic integrity. Now, we, the “ourselves” of the 12th generation have the privilege to establish the U.S. under its purpose “in order to” encourage “our Posterity.”

My comprehension today of the proffered U.S. Preamble’s proposition to individual citizens is this:  This U.S. citizen practices and promotes 5 public disciplines---integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, "in order to” enjoy responsible human independence among “ourselves” and encourage “our Posterity.”

I encourage every reader to develop his or her comprehension of the proffered U.S. Preamble so as to inform his or her civic, civil, legal, and spiritual integrity according to human-individual power, energy, and authority. A wonderful privilege of U.S. citizenship is that the U.S. Preamble’s proposition is practiced by choice.

By choosing to articulate his or her practice, the citizen qualifies himself or herself to hold Congress responsible to reform to U.S.-Constitutional-accountability. Otherwise, we’ll continue to lessen our individual freedom and decline to Congress’s abyss.

If I’m making sense to you, write to your congress persons and demand that they stop starting sessions with lame prayer and coercive pledge and instead recite the U.S. preamble verbatim in the earnest comprehension each member practices.

If Thomas More (d. 1535) favored “the rule of law and conscience and the proper autonomy of church and state,” he was mimicked Socrates (d. 399 B.C.).

And it seems clear in 2020 that human equity is based on statutory justice grounded in ineluctable evidence, negating the English idea “Liberty [is] justice through the rule of law ordered towards the good of the people.” Evidentiary justice does not yield to either “consent of the people” or “republican self government.” In England, Parliament, like all legislative bodies, yields to physics and its progeny, including psychology. And speech that does not conform to physics begs woe.

Moreover, “civic friendship” must consider, communicate, collaborate, and connect to discover the-literal-truth and how to take advantage thereof. Only then can “ourselves” encourage “our Posterity,” quoting the preamble to the U.S. Constitution. “Loyal industry” contributes to discovery whereas tradition represses integrity. “Preparing the soul for virtue” seems emotional pursuit of mystery, but is as civically tolerable as fascination with 17th century scholarship, or a professional sport, or opera, or adventure. Interest in scholarship helps a citizen understand that “nature” is a proprietary substitute attempting to suppress “physics and its progeny.” Also, “the rule of law, liberty, and the common good” bemuses the public disciplines needed for responsible human independence.

As always, I encourage readers to develop their independent interpretation of the U.S. Preamble’s citizen’s proposition.

https://lawliberty.org/the-right-kind-of-reparations

Merriam-Webster Online informs us for “reparation”: “the act of making amends, offering expiation, or giving satisfaction for a wrong or injury.”

It is shocking to encounter the construct “right kind of reparations” respecting United States fellow citizens. There are other steps before reparation to “We the People of the United States in order to . . .” can be proposed as statutory justice. Is there injury or opportunity in being a U.S. citizen? Has the injured individual accepted being of “We the People of the United States in order to . . .”? How did the injury happen? When did the injury happen? Who inflicted the injury? Did the injured party appeal to the perpetrator(s) for relief? Did the perpetrator respond? What caused the harm? Do U.S. citizens connect to develop individual happiness with statutory justice?

Some citizens appreciate the United States, having: been colonized for 295 years on its Eastern seaboard with people enslaved in Africa by Africans---Africans sold by Africans, brokered by Arabs, bought by European colonizers and delivered to N. America’s Eastern seaboard (see, for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab_slave_trade); won military independence from England by virtue of France’s strategy and strength at Yorktown, VA in September 1781; ratified global status as 13 free and independent states in 1784; accepted that the 1774 confederacy of states could not survive; proposed that citizens connect for 5 public disciplines to establish responsible psychological independence in 1787; and accepted Civil War as necessary for Christians who believed in abolition of slavery to prevail over fellow citizens who were erroneous believers. Nine of those states ratified the proposal, on June 21, 1788, intending to amend it. Operations began on March 4, 1789. Territories requested statehood such that as of August, 1959, the nation is the people of 50 states with 6 territories.

Due to interference by Congress and citizens’ failure to hold Congress accountable, the constitutional intentions have been neglected for 233 years, a short time in the history of slavery. The slavery competition in Africa is attributed to the descendant religions of Abraham---primarily, Judaism, Islam, Christianity, and now African-American Christianity. Congress, by stating in the First Amendment they ratified in 1791, that they would neither establish nor prevent religion, obfuscated the intentions of the U.S. Constitution: encouraging U.S. citizens to develop responsible human independence. The action needed to relieve the dominance of religion in the U.S. is to amend the First Amendment so as to protect the individual citizen’s opportunity to develop integrity.

Most citizens consider and accept the proffered U.S. Constitution, because they perceive self-interest in contributing for mutual, comprehensive safety and security. Other citizens want egocentric liberty rather than responsible human independence. Some of them take the license to harm property and injure or murder fellow citizens. They invite written law-enforcement whether statutory justice has been discovered and worked out or not. Some think guilt is arbitrarily determined by the accuser. Citizens who do not contribute to civic, civil, legal, and spiritual development of their nation invite the justice proffered by We the People of the United States---willing citizens.

Professor Hankins is correct in concluding “Educating . . . Americans well at the earliest stages of their development will make us all better off.” Beginning in 2020---this moment, every Education Department in this country needs to develop programs to coach and encourage each person to accept being a human being; to accept that it takes a quarter century for an infant to acquire comprehension and intention to live his or her unique lifetime; to accept the human individual power, energy, and authority (HIPEA) to develop integrity; to accept that more than a quarter century of engaged service to humankind is the vehicle for experience and observations that empower a person to discover his or her unique abilities; and to hope for another quarter century to share before dying the lessons learned to posterity (Gaines, 1993, d. 2019).
