The Advocate personnel insist on awakening my sickest dreams. (I admit, I am just not into adult satisfactions that harm children.)
 
As I read through this editorial my mind built the image of a ship’s captain on the maiden voyage of a giant pleasure cruiser taking on water and saying “After all the risk we accepted to this point, we’re carrying on to the bitter end.” Too late, he calls for safety boats.
 
I commend the legislature to delay action so as to create a task force to weigh the cost to Louisiana of further-competing in the world-wide focus on picking people’s pockets. I’ve visited the casinos from N.O. to Vegas to cruise ships to Monte Carlo (that’s how ignorant I am) and see the variations from the international attractions to the local hangers-on. Either way, it is not a pretty experience.
 
A few decades ago, anyone who questioned cigarette smoking was blasted with violent rhetoric. In 2018, people are debating banning smoking on sidewalks! People know that breathing second-hand smoke outdoors can kill the bystander. People know that gambling is ruinous.
 
It’s time for gambling to have economic evaluation that address the-objective-truth. How much does gambling cost the children of the state of Louisiana? Here, 50% or 548,000 children live in low income families; nccp.org/profiles/LA_profile_6.html. How does state-sponsored gambling affect them?
 
I think these are the kinds of questions a responsible press researches and poses to the Legislature.

David and Dean seem egocentric to me.

Early in my eighth decade---just a couple weeks ago---I articulated that each human being may, during his or her first three decades develop fidelity to the-objective-truth. As he or she practices comprehensive fidelity, he or she may develop a commitment: In every thought, every word, and every action, I will neither initiate nor tolerate harm to or from anyone.

I am happy to have this commitment on March 23, 2018. However, I am mad as hell that it was not encouraged in me, by example and coaching, as my experiences and observations accumulated. The culture I was brought up in inculcated obeisance to higher powers: mom and dad’s Baptist god and “we the people” instead of We the People of the United States who trust-in and commit-to the preamble to the constitution of the USA. I did not even realize the preamble offers an agreement until about my sixth decade! Good grief! I was reared in the country of denial: no one knows their god (as far as I can observe). At least they don't know their afterdeath.
 
Likewise, I do not know the-objective-truth, but I spend part of my energy trying to discover the-objective-truth. I now articulate: I possess the human authority to behave so as to neither initiate nor tolerate harm to or from anyone. That is, neither anyone’s god nor anyone’s government nor any person can usurp my human authority to behave.
 
I appreciate all the fellow-persons who have helped me articulate these ideas and reach this commitment. I appreciate The Advocate and G. E. Dean for the motivation to make this statement. However, I commend The Advocate personnel to either move Dean’s entry to the eatplaylive section or provide a balancing thought briefer than the ones I post at cipbr.blogspot.com.

The black caucus’s stated purpose is to do everything they can to favor black-skinned people. Since blacks suffer a tradition of vigilante justice, there’s a lot of crime in some black neighborhoods. However, many black people are civic citizens rather than vigilantes.

If the black caucus can make it hard for civic citizens to convict criminals, the black caucus may claim that it has helped black people. However, black people are the victims of black-vigilante crime, and some are civic citizens. If black civic citizens go along with the black caucus, they are hurting themselves. Better to be a civic citizen than a black-caucus victim.

I have heard some black Americans claim that the civic agreement that is offered in the preamble to the constitution for the USA was not intended for them. However, Frederick Douglass asserted that it is intended for black people in his July 5, 1852 speech before the President of the United States; rbscp.lib.rochester.edu/2945. He was railing against internal slave trade sixty-four years after the people’s delegates in nine states had ratified the 1787 Constitution, establishing the USA and forty-four years after the African slave importation had ended. He rightfully shamed the generation that was extending the awful, internal slave market. He also was claiming civic citizenship.

Black civic citizens in Louisiana may ask, “If I cannot collaborate for civic morality in my community, city, state, and country now: When?” And, “If I cannot collaborate as the civic citizen who is specified in the preamble to the constitution for the USA, what civic agreement would I commit to?” Every person has the authority to consider being a civic citizen or not. The black caucus has no standing when it comes to individual authority respecting personal values and commitments.

I served on a jury one time in my life. The plaintiff was white and clearly at fault in an industrial accident. One juror had the conviction that big corporations ought to pay. She extended the discussion every chance she got, closing her arguments with “Just give him the money.” The rest of the jury argued that the plaintiff caused the accident. Because only ten votes were needed, justice was possible.

Scholars and politicians seem confused with statements like, “[The] Russian intervention raises questions about the nature of democracy. Much more plausible . . . conspiracy accusations have been a staple . . . since the beginning of the republic.” I think the “democracy” connection to “the republic” in Professor McGinnis’ statement is this: direct voting reveals the democratic majority, but the republic involves an electoral college that may elect the minority candidate. Thus, the voting majority may not win the election. However, each citizen has and many neglect human authority.

Europeans and other aliens who don’t understand the American dream don’t understand American elections. The American dream is private liberty with civic morality. That’s an unfulfilled opportunity that originates from American settlers, who sought freedom-from European oppression. Some settlers discovered the liberty-to pursue personal preferences rather than the happiness elite politicians imagined for them.

Quite naturally, Europeans, from whom America won independence do not understand the historical facts. America was a mixture of colonies and territories under the colonization of several European countries and indigenous peoples such as Mexicans. Perceiving enslavement by England, thirteen eastern-seaboard colonies changed their style to states. Under a confederation that was endorsed by only 40% of inhabitants, they waged war for independence from England, some intending to also emancipate the slaves. England agreed that the thirteen states were free and independent. However, the confederation of states did not function. Therefore, twelve of them created the 1787 Constitution, which only 2/3 of delegates signed. It offered governance by civic people in their states. “Civic” designates those who trusted-in and committed-to the preamble.

Therein are further significant departures from unity: 1/3 of 1787 delegates of twelve states were so dissident they did not sign, and the people paid little attention to the agreement they were offered in the preamble. In 1788, 2/3 of representatives of nine states ratified the constitution, leaving four states to join the established USA. One state joined in time for ten states to reinstitute Blackstone but with American factional Protestantism instead of the English Church to “advantage a distinctive class of rulers” despite the signers’ intentions. Americans may move to another state but cannot escape “freedom of religion” when freedom of thought is needed and wanted. Yet the purpose and goals stated in the preamble are in the memes of many 2018 Americans. It is up to 2018 people who want the American dream stated above to collaborate using the preamble to the US constitution instead of the American religion to establish the American republic at last.

Professor McGinnis makes the point that social democracy is foreign to the American republic, but so is Chapter XI Machiavelianism. The signers of the 1787 Constitution are the American fathers and the leaders in the preceding decade and following decade include dissidents such as British loyalists, social democrats, socialists, communists, communitarians and other citizens who oppose private liberty with civic morality.

“The genius of the United States Constitution was to create additional protections beyond democracy through individual rights and limitations of the power of the national government.” What’s missing so far is that most American individuals seek higher power rather than accept their human, individual authority to collaborate for civic justice using the preamble and the-objective-truth.

How about the nation of denial?

Wax does law professors no favors with her secret agendum, whatever it is. Somebody on pjmedia.com/instapundit/292027/ thinks she’s really writing about harm to minority students and refers readers to papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2890328, by Gail Heriot.

But I’m interested in some deeper hidden secrecies: A more apt caption to Wax’s composition is “The Nation of Denial.” Consider: if “freedom of religion” went away, America could have responsible thought. If “our democracy” went away, America could nourish its constitutional republic. If arrogant judical opinion went away Americans could collaborate to discover the-objective-truth. If arrogant, judicial opinion went away the-objective-truth could be used to increase statutory justice.

If the Congressional Black Caucus would adopt the agreement that is offered in the preamble to the constitution for the USA, more black Americans might become civic citizens rather than “african americans”. If most law professors adopted the civic agreement that is offered in the preamble, they could focus on collaborating to discover the-objective-truth; some waste scholarly studies on questions like whether or not James Madison until 1836 revised his 1787 notes from Philadelphia.

Most professors would know to consider the human equality question from the viable ovum and healthy spermatozoon rather than at age thirty with understanding and intent to responsibly live a full life or not. Only by example and good coaching can students prepare for age thirty. The ideas need to be publically discussed, but they are suppressed by government under government’s god, whatever that is. Religion and reality almost never mix, and the-objective-truth cannot be discovered---is often opposed---by religious belief. The tragedy is that many Americans have come to believe political power yields to their personal god. Neither government nor its god can usurp the individual’s innate authority to behave.

The belief that religion determines the-objective-truth has plagued America since April-May 1789 when Congress granted itself divinity by hiring American factional-Protestant ministers in order to compete with Parliament and its Church of England clergy. Law professors have helped maintain this pretension when they could help separate church from state and vice versa. The Greece v Galloway (2014) opinion is an example of tyranny over the lives of civic citizens.

My guess is that Wax is writing for lawyerly debate and could not care less whether civic citizens collaborate for a better future or not. I work for a better future.

Law professors may ask their person: Am I doing all I can to collaborate with fellow citizens to discover the-objective-truth? If the answer is no, they have the personal authority to reform.

I cannot address a current definition of civic morality, but can express my views. They are counter to the customary inculcation of “higher power.” For the developed, balanced, human being, the only higher power is the-objective-truth, whatever it’s elements may be.
The moral human accepts individual authority to behave with fidelity to the-objective-truth. Conformance to the-objective-truth is good for the individual and conflict with the-objective-truth is bad for the individual. Thus, the good and bad is an individual determination that collectively impacts humankind.
Individual authority is a unique characteristic of the human being, but it is not innate: the person may develop fidelity to the-objective-truth, and a few do so. The fidelity cannot be taught and can only be learned by experience and observation.
However, a young person with intent for fidelity may be encouraged and coached. The human being is so potentially powerful it takes two to three decades to equip him or her with the basic knowledge, understanding, and intent to develop his or her individual authority during a lifetime of some eighty years.
The-objective-truth exists and humankind works to discovery its elements. Its elements do not respond to any human construct: reason, revelation, research, majority opinion, compassion, empathy, fear, coercion, force. Human action may change the course of events, but the consequences conform to the-objective-truth. Unknowns exist, and some apparent discoveries are lessened by unknown-objective-truths: future discoveries will correct them. However, humankind’s understanding of the inter-connectedness of the-discovered-objective-truths increases with time.
The fidelity is comprehensive. It extends from the-objective-truth to self, to immediate family, to extended family and friends, to the people (the nation), to all people (the world), and to the universe, both respectively and collectively. The mature individual has the commitment: in every thought, every word, and every action, I will neither initiate nor tolerate harm. Anyone who establishes violence of thought, word or action, has breached this commitment.
In a culture wherein most individuals are pursuing comprehensive fidelity, there are two socio-political groups: civic citizens and dissidents. The civic citizens expect the dissidents to reform as they perceive, by example, a better way of living. The civic culture develops statutory justice based on the-objective-truth rather than dominant opinion. When a dissident, also possessing individual authority, causes actual harm, statutory justice may be required: the criminal dissident may face compulsory counselling, fines, physical constraint, or death. Since statutory justice is based on the-objective-truth, dissidents reform more readily than when dominant opinion has established injustice.
I hope these ideas help and offer them for collaboration rather than to pretend to represent uncommon knowledge of the-objective-truth.

Bergevin expresses wealthy-elite opinions about Madison. For example, the preamble to the constitution for the USA offers “a large aggregation of citizens organized on the principle of self-government.” However, in 2018, there is not the “general prosperity” George Washington urged in 1783.

Individual reform is needed. Civic people neglect the individual authority the preamble’s agreement invokes. “Civic” refers to people who collaborate to live in the same time and country with mutual, comprehensive safety and security (Security). The culture of Security would empower private liberty with civic morality---pursuit of private happiness rather than the dictates of elites. However, the people elite dissidents to civic morality govern the government.

In the 2016 presidential election, as in others, citizens did not have self-government choices. It was elites for social democracy or worse versus elites for parochial American republicanism. In the Madison-designed government of, by, and for the people, the faction of civic citizens has waned as regimes ply the clergy-politician partnership that has maintained legislative divinity for 229 years. Financial elites have the power to terminate Chapter XI Machiavellianism anytime they deem it would serve the wealthy people.

However, a civic people could replace governance under god and government with governance under the people by requiring statutory justice rather than arbitrary opinion made dominant by the elites. Statuary justice is discovered by collaborating for the-objective-truth rather than conflicting for dominant opinion.

Not only should information sharing be free, equitable distribution of the Gross National Product should be free; that is, not constrained by laws that favor the elites. A civic people may accept rather than demand the human authority to require government that adheres to the purpose and goals that are offered in the preamble and set up in the 1787 Constitution that follows it. In other words, citizens may behave responsibly. Amendments and Congressional acts that weaken the preamble’s agreement may be reformed. The wealthy-elite system that made Mark Zuckerberg a young billionaire may be reformed. Likewise, the wealthy-elite system that promotes high-income entertainers, sports stars, and other adult satisfactions may be reformed for “general prosperity”.

This WSJ on March 22, 2018, informs us that 133 people last year shared $1.54 billion in pay. But child poverty affects 30 million children: “43% of children live in low-income families.” See nccp.org/publications/pub_1194.html. James Madison has taken us far from George Washington’s four pillars, listed on June 8, 1783. See loc.gov/teachers/classroommaterials/presentationsandactivities/presentations/timeline/amrev/peace/circular.html. Instead of “mutual concessions which are requisite to the general prosperity,” many Americans see poor children and think, “There but for the grace of God go I.”
Otherwise civic people pretend higher power overrules their individual authority to collaborate for civic justice. Thanks to Madison, the American fake higher powers are government and god, lower-case because it’s Madison’s god. Bergevin quotes Madison on government: “first enable the government to . . . control itself.” We know that has not happened in 230 years. Madison also specified god above government: “It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage and such only as he believes to be acceptable to him. This duty is precedent, both in order of time and in degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society.” People who follow Madison’s lead and claim the people are civically controlled by god are false: Every individual controls his or her energy during every moment of life.
In civic morality, the power to which the people must comport is the-objective-truth. I’m not talking about any of humankind’s constructed powers like scientific studies, religious revelations, or political theories. Those are the fake powers each human being must juggle with individual authority in order to make the most if his or her brief, perhaps 90 years, of life.
Two false higher powers have bemused the people for 230 years. The nadir we may be experiencing presents an opportunity for citizens to consider individual authority, the preamble, and the-objective-truth. The reform from 133 cosmopolitan citizens with 30 million poor children to “general prosperity” is possible by using the-objective-truth rather than dominant opinion to discover civic justice.
Elite wealth is out of control, and it can last as long as a civic people deny individual authority and responsibility. For civic justice, there is no higher power than the collective individuals.

In the context of “society” life may refer to human kind, representing, so far, perhaps eight trillion years of past life. I answer respecting the life of an individual human being in 2018. Each individual may develop fidelity.
Before the individual’s mother was conceived, there was nothing. The mother, during her fertile years produced viable ova. One was fertilized, producing a single-cell zygote. The cell repeatedly divided over eight or so days, becoming a multi-celled blastocyst, which fortunately attached to the mother’s womb. If not, the potential person would pass, pin-head-sized, out of her body probably unnoticed. During gestation, many biological events may be interrupted, causing spontaneous termination of the pregnancy—-natural abortion. If delivery occurs, there is a chance the baby will die within the first month. Otherwise, what the mother delivers is a feral, human infant—-a mind, body, and person with the potential to develop into a human being.
The human being is so powerful that it takes two to three decades for typical development. Building wisdom may start above age thirty if at all. Psychological maturity may be attained beyond age sixty, but normally does not happen. The future can be better.
He or she does not know it, but each human individual has the authority to develop his or her person during every moment of personal life, hopefully more than eighty years. He or she may advance the leading edge of civic morality that has been discovered during the past eight trillion years of human life.
Each human being has the opportunity to develop fidelity to the-objective-truth rather than conformity to social opinion. Private fidelity is essential to the individual but barely impacts society. The smallest infidelity begs woe, and with crime or evil woe comes brutally. However, if most individuals accept personal authority to develop fidelity, a civic culture may develop, and infidelity could lessen.
Fidelity to the-objective-truth is comprehensive. That is, it extends to self, immediate family, extended family and friends, the people (nation), the world’s inhabitants, and the universe, both respectively and collectively. Thus, it is a civic practice, where “civic” implies two individuals collaborating to empower each other’s lives more than cooperating-with, subjugating-to, or suffering civilization or socialization (coercion), tradition (stagnation), or legalization (force). A civic culture offers mutual, comprehensive safety and security; private liberty with civic morality; human justice.
In a civic culture, dissidents are inspired to reform, because they observe and experience a better way of living. Just as the civic citizen has authority over his or her person and develops fidelity, the criminal has individual authority but believes crime or worse pays. However, statutory justice, is developed by discovering the-objective-truth rather than tolerating dominant opinion. Statutory justice is more motivating than arbitrary law to the criminal who suffers law enforcement. That is, the criminal is more accepting toward statutory justice.
Society does not foster the above ideas. Unfortunately, society fosters the idea that the human individual has not the authority to behave so as to benefit from the-objective-truth. Society bemuses the individual to seek power from religion and from government or the partnership of the two. Particular religions and particular governments are morally weak and their partnerships are tyrants. The person who does not accept the authority to live his or her life according to personal, beneficial preferences, loses private life to unjust society.
Each individual may pursue personal happiness rather than the dictates of society and help reverse human misery and loss humankind takes for granted. Each person may accept individual authority to develop personal fidelity.

The evil of legialative camaraderie

Despite the caption, this editorial seems to use cute phrases to condone legislative secrecy.

The Advocate personnel and other writers for the press recently published bemusement about legislative camaraderie; theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/article_62dd6f22-2588-11e8-a98d-dbbd4666dace.html and theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/stephanie_grace/article_389ef9e4-2612-11e8-9479-2b8ba55e0e88.html and theadvocate.com/new_orleans/entertainment_life/nell_nolan/article_0fe9d4ee-2741-11e8-aa04-b736c83cff09.html.

Citizens who go to the Capital witness and experience the evil of legislative camaraderie first hand. When the witness is seated and recognized, representatives who could have departed before the introduction wait and intentionally or not deprecate the seated citizen. The chair may surprise the citizen with the question, “Phil, do you feel you must speak?” As though the citizen should know the decision has been made in secret or for some other camaraderie. Special caucus members never look at the citizen. The chair imposes interruptions, surprising the citizen with obscure house rules.

The Advocate personnel add to the bemusement with popular, meaningless jargon: “drain the swamp,” and “sunshine laws.” If they kept track of their own articles, writers for The Advocate could have used this editorial to point out that legislative camaraderie equates to abusing the people.

As long as The Advocate personnel leave civic responsibility to readers, The Advocate writers will continue to foster camaraderie with civic abusers like the Louisiana legislature and governor. It is past time for The Advocate personnel to look in their mirrors and state: "I am first a fellow citizen."

Nevertheless, only a civic people can motivate reform so as to establish justice in Louisiana. A civic people of the United States use the purpose and goals stated in the U.S. preamble to collaborate for statutory justice, a worthy purpose even if possibly attainable goal.

To Tom Robinson:  I think Baton Rouge is divided: citizens who behave according to their perception of the civic agreement that is stated in the preamble to the constitution for the USA, and dissidents. I think most Baton Rougans are civic citizens.

Dissidents are comprised of innocents, aliens such as criminals, and social democrats. The Advocate personnel promote social democracy rather than the American republic. They may or may not understand their motives. 

Nevertheless, social democracy is chaos, as we observe in Europe. The Advocate personnel may reform, but I imagine it would have to be in collaboration with the social democrats at LSU.

Dean says, “Faith in God will give us victory over fear.”


For 1700 years, the Holy Bible defended the slave-master relationship and vice versa. But slavery in America was ended by Civil War and civil unrest a hundred years later. I oppose the brutality America inflicts on poor children. I see no evidence that Bible interpretation holds promise.

It seems to me David and Dean merely hope they don’t have to collaborate to solve such problems. They both seem egocentric.

The individual, such as yourself, may consider an idea that is not widely expressed: each human has the authority to choose beneficial behavior. This is so, because the human individual may control personal energy during every moment of life and may balance three external powers everyone continuously faces.

Unfortunately, existing cultures inculcate the belief that an individual needs a higher authority. Ironically, the higher authorities are typically weak and ineffective. Therefore, a person who does not accept personal authority may wander from authority to authority and thereby waste a human life. Unfortunately, it happens often.

The second idea that is not widely expressed is that conformance to society does not satisfy pursuit of individual happiness. The individual wants but does not articulate private liberty with civic morality, where “civic” refers to individuals who collaborate for mutual safety and security more than for a municipality, doctrine, or tradition.

In a civic culture, collaborating citizens discover and benefit from actual reality or the-objective-truth rather than conflict for dominant opinion. Consequently, civil order, both civilization (coercion) and government (force), conform to the-objective-truth. Peoples who may adopt these concepts might develop distinct cultures, because, like individuals, nations have differing perceptions of happiness. 

However, civic nations commit to comprehensive safety and security.
But not everyone participates. For example, some people erroneously think crime pays. So the need for statutory justice never ceases. However, since justice is discovered on the-objective-truth, criminals (who also have individual authority) appreciate it more than law from arbitrary opinion. Therefore, crime lessens as statutory justice increases.

In this post, I have touched on four authorities some human beings may learn to balance: individual authority, the-objective-truth, mankind’s civil order, and private liberty with civic morality. The latter is the un-realized American dream.

To : I commend your phrase “send the wrath of god upon them.” With the lower case “g” you, both accurately and precisely, took the deity out of the described personal attitude.

This is an advantage of Quora posts as well as publicly accessible comment sections by online media (such as my hometown newspaper, The Advocate): the writer is not hindered by an editor who might, with arrogant honesty or no integrity, change your “g” to his or her “G.”

The long-needed nadir of “freedom of the press” has arrived, and the sooner the press morphs to responsibility the better. Regardless, responsibility is now in the purview of civic people, where it belongs. The sooner a civic people---people who accept human, individual authority--realize it, the better.
Conflicted media personnel may realize and accept, “I am first an individual, and second, a worker for the media.” President Trump routinely, tacitly, powerfully tweets: “I am President:  The office does not annihilate my person.” I would not mimic Trump’s brashness but am cautioned-by and compliment his tacit expression: “Approach me with integrity or deal with whatever my person comes up with.”

The press-workers, so far, won’t collaborate with Trump’s challenge: either offer integrity or receive lies and other creative protection of the President’s office. It reminds me of a message attributed to Jesus:  Support the leader that was elected for you . . . or not. The press often confuses appeal for integrity with soliciting personal loyalty, narcissism, or worse.

Returning to your descriptor, “Activist for every individual's right to self-determination,” I am attracted to “individual” but distracted by the capital “A.” What’s that for?

But addressing your work, please compare the first sentence of my post: “The [human] individual . . . has the authority to choose beneficial behavior.” That’s the beginning of my post about an overall theory for civic morality. If you and I collaborate on our two expressions, a good idea may emerge.

The Advocate for social democracy

"Civic" refers to citizens who collaborate for responsible freedom more than for the city.
A personal paraphrase of the June 21, 1788 preamble:  We the civic citizens of nine of the thirteen United States commit-to and trust-in the purpose and goals stated herein --- integrity, justice, collaboration, defense, prosperity, liberty, and perpetuity --- and to cultivate limited services to us by the USA. I want to collaborate with other citizens on this paraphrase, yet would always preserve the original, 1787, text.

Thank goodness I voted for candidate Donald Trump and his running mate Mike Pence, because the others seemed weak. I knew Trump was a celebrity and therefore the object of some ambitious women---#metoo dreamers rather than real women. I had no opportunity to vote on reliable sexual fidelity, unless Pence-appearances and a better Trump are true. And thank goodness so many people voted against Hillary Clinton and her running mate.

One of the tragic consequences is that The Advocate personnel make it clear they favor the chaos of social democracy in America, where a republican form of government is promised by its constitution.


Today, The Advocate personnel passed up President Trump’s dramatic speech on solving the opioid-deaths plague, choosing to harp on New Orleans street art and the town’s reaction to it.

The people of Louisiana deserve better than a hometown newspaper that competes with the National Enquirer. And writers for The Advocate deserve the opportunity to develop personal civic morality.


I encourage The Advocate employees to realize: every person has the authority to spend his or energy to behave according to civic morality. Thus, each person may develop the personal commitment: in every thought, every word, and every action, neither initiate nor tolerate harm.


Why do The Advocate personnel promote “what Neal Morris thinks”? I could not care less about Morris talk, but I want a responsible hometown newspaper.

Dean says, “When a nation walks with God, it will be blessed.”

Dean shares with the public the reason the USA hopes it is at a civic nadir. After 229 years “under God,” we’re in a hell of a mess.
 
Apparently, The Advocate personnel like folly, but goodness knows a little civic balance would be welcomed.

And I do not think he should. Every human individual has the opportunity to develop fidelity to the-objective-truth. Those who do, may mature to a civic commitment:  In every thought, every word, and every action, neither initiate nor tolerate harm.

People who erroneously believed that abolition of slavery was defiance of God’s plan felt God’s favor would give them the victory in war. Therefore, they attacked a “more erroneous religious belief.”

Today, many blacks in America believe that God will help them fulfill their dreams. Some think the only way a white person can save his or her soul is to help black Americans reign supreme.

God leaves it to humans to exercise personal authority to behave. Erroneous beliefs and wayward prayer begs woe. That is the conversation that could establish the integrity Americans need . . . and want, I hope.

Lawmakers who improve gambling businesses in Louisiana are acting against the people of Louisiana.

For every $1 mined from the people of Louisiana, $0.22 goes to the state general fund. It’s a sinister arrangement: the people (the state) picking individual’s pockets.

During this critical time, The Advocate personnel could be researching and reporting gambling’s impacts on crime, poverty, drug dependency, psychological problems and emotional break-downs, and medical-care costs. The Advocate personnel, like every other citizen, have the individual authority to first neither enact nor tolerate harm, and subscribers pay them to do such research so that the people have the information to manage civic morality.

I wrote to my state representatives and asked them to keep legislation for gambling from passing.

I also want to see new legislation that keeps elected officials' families and extended families from serving the gambling industry for profit beyond direct wages. In other words, legislator’s extended families can be neither vendors to the gambling businesses nor gambling-business owners.

Age 22 is at the edge of life’s best opportunity to establish balance for living a full life.

We articulate four authorities which every human individual may discover and develop in proper balance. The authorities are: the individual, actual reality, humankind, and the American dream. Let me explain each authority and power.

Each newborn has the authority to develop his or her energy during every moment of life. This individual authority and power cannot be taught: must be experienced and observed. However, some parents who individually balance the four powers coach their children to develop autonomy early and fast. Some children are coachable.

With optimum education, coaching, and autonomy, the child may discover and develop fidelity. Later, the mature adult may develop the practice: in every thought, in every word, in every action, first neither do harm nor tolerate harm. If dissident parents think, for example, crime pays, the child may develop infidelity, but some rebel to develop fidelity. A civic culture emerges when most people pursue fidelity.

The prime fidelity is to actual reality, in other words, the-objective-truth, the second power, second because it would have no impact if the person had not been born. It is a comprehensive fidelity that, both respectively and collectively, extends to self, to immediate family, to extended family and friends, to the people (nation), to all people (the world), and to the universe.

The third authority is humankind’s civil order. There are two civil nuances: civilization (coercion) and legalization (force), both inferior to civic morality (responsibility). In civic morality, individuals inform civil order and develop statutory justice rather than conflict for dominant legal opinion. Regardless of injustice that may be forced on the individual, the balanced individual remains in control of personal behavior.

The fourth authority is the American dream; in other words, private liberty with civic morality. Most of the world is unaware of this dream, because Americans have not created a civic culture. Europeans today cannot grasp America’s freedom-from oppression with liberty-to responsibly pursue individual happiness rather than social democracy or other imposition.

Happy is the person who discovers these four powers and balances them during most of his or her brief lifetime, hopefully more than 80 happy years. Tragically, many cultures inculcate fear of responsible individual authority. Cultures impose a quest for a higher power to coerce or force morality that the person cannot deny except by immorality. When a chosen higher power fails, the individual seeks another, and the cycle of failure extends.
