Consider writing a personal paraphrase of the preamble, which offers fellow citizens mutual appreciation:  For discussion, I convert the preamble’s predicate phrases to nouns and paraphrase it for my interpretation of its proposal as follows We the People of the United States proffer & practice 5 public disciplines —- integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, “in order to” encourage & facilitate responsible-human-independence “to ourselves and our Posterity”. It seems the Supreme Court occasionally refers to it, and no one has challenged whether or not the preamble is a legal statement. The fact that it changed this independent country from a confederation of states to a union of states deliberately managed by disciplined fellow citizens convinces me the preamble is legal. Equity in opportunity and outcome is shared by the people who collaborate for human justice.

Every citizen has equal opportunity to either trust-in and collaborate-on the goals stated in the preamble or be dissident to the agreement. I think 2/3 of citizens try somewhat to use the preamble but many do not articulate commitment to the goals. However, it seems less than 2/3 understand that “posterity” implies grandchildren. “Freedom of religion,” which fellow citizens have no means to discipline, oppresses freedom to develop integrity.

At least three prior human-beings have asserted that the human being has the individual opportunity, power, energy, and authority to constrain chaos in their way of living. They are, a Sumer philosopher 5,500 years ago, Jesus 2000 years ago, and Ralph Waldo Emerson 184 years ago.

Genesis 1:28 suggests that humankind can& may independently provide order and prosperity to the lesser species and to the earth.

We, the 2022 “ourselves and our Posterity” can& may establish responsible-human-independence as a way of living.

My excuse for not accepting responsible-human-independence (RHI) by age 13 or so: the U.S. culture did not foster civic-integrity.

Whereas the lesser species are born to apply instincts for survival, the-female& male-human-being is born to discover& benefit-from whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice. For example, the person who imbibes too-often invites early death.

The other species may each have a particular capability that surpasses that of other species, including human-being. However, none have the complexity of the human neurological system. See ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1955772/.

For example, a foal stands on 4 legs within an hour of birth, finds the mare’s tit within 3 hours, and a thoroughbred peaks in 3 years. A typical human-infant is dependent for food, stands on 2 legs in perhaps 8,036 hours, and matures in perhaps 80 years.

A “thorough-bred” human-lifetime might be imagined in quarter centuries: the first to acquire the comprehension& intention to psychologically mature, the second& third to accumulate the experiences& observations that ground civic-integrity, and the fourth to reflect on the-consequences-of-each-personal-choice they made. Perhaps they will share their experience, in order to aid “ourselves& and our Posterity” in the journey to RHI. “Civic” refers to mutual reliability in human connections more than conformity to civil rules.

These principles can& may apply to a civic culture. However, so far, such a culture has not emerged in the world. Most cultures inculcate in their youth dependency on a-philosophy-of power-above-humankind or “higher power”– the way, a philosophy, a government, a theology, or military-power -- anything except the-civic-necessity& justice that demands RHI.

Consequently, rare is the human-being who discovers RHI during their lifetime.

I know of three historical entities that perceived the can& may of human, individual perfection: a political philosopher perhaps in Sumer 55-hundred years ago, Jesus, and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

In reverse chronology, third, Emerson, in “Divinity School Address” (1838) wrote “Jesus . . . Alone in all history . . . estimated the greatness of man. One man was true to what is in you and me.” Second, Matthew 5:48 reports that Jesus said, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” And John 8:58 reports that Jesus said “before Abraham was born I am.” First, Hebrew scholars reported in Genesis 1:26-28 that the ancient philosophy was “. . . God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over [the other living species].’ . . . God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the [other species].”

In Genesis 2, the scholars dropped “God” to take up “the Lord God”. The people cannot be held liable for scholarly-arrogance. However, the people are without excuse for not observing civic-necessity& justice.

The can& may of human-perfection has been suppressed since the 55-hundred year old suggestion: humankind can& may independently constrain chaos on earth. In other words, no higher power can usurp the human, individual opportunity, power, energy, & authority (HIOPEA) to practice, facilitate, and encourage RHI.

Events leading to the colonization of North America produced two documents that affirm Genesis 1:28. First, the 1776 declaration of war against England claims authority under “Nature’s God” rather than the English Trinity. Second, the 1787 U.S. Constitution specifies a republic with each: safeguards against democracy, five domestic disciplines to as to develop RHI, and assignment of spiritual pursuits to individual-privacy.

During the required state-ratification conventions, former British citizens, colonists reluctantly statesmen, dominated the politics and required restoration of English tradition, including legislative partnership with Christian Protestantism. During the recent 233 years, under whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice, the entity We the People of the United States developed 2022’s political chaos.

U.S. reform is possible with two reforms. First, adult citizens can& may act to perfect their unique person before death. The moment a person adopts the intention to practice RHI, success can begin. Second, Education Departments can& may reform so as to inculcate in U.S. youth personal commitment to accept their HIOPEA to constrain chaos in their way of living.

With adults practicing, facilitating, and encouraging RHI, most of our youth can& may accelerate the reform that is needed to stop 2022’s divergent chaos in the USA.

Freedom is imposed by the winner in war or mob disruption and is nothing to desire when independence is possible.

A political philosopher some 5,500 years ago suggested that female& male-human-being can& may constrain chaos in their way of living. The message came to us in the artful vernacular of Genesis 1:28, the reform of the 1776 declaration of independence from England, and the 1787 U.S. constitutional republic. We, the “ourselves and our Posterity” of 2022 can& may restore the U.S. intentions: independence rather than freedom& liberty, two John Locke impositions.

In 2022, people can develop appreciative humility toward whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-choice, and therefore, may independently constrain chaos in their way of living. For example, they can responsibly-work for the lifestyle they-desire rather than accept the-happiness-a-bureaucrat-would-impose.

Freedom would oppress the independent human-being.

In NIV, the quote is “and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.”

In MSG, “They think religion is a way to make a fast buck.”

Consider Exodus 20:7, NIV, “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.”

I understand the 1-Timothy author is St. Paul, one of the worst of the NT writers. That opinion is based on my long-standing opinion that Jesus claim’s that emerge from the Bible reports about him instruct us not to take Jesus’ name in vain.

St. Paul does so in Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Therein, Paul pits God vs Jesus or vice versa, a fruitless arrogance against what Paul does not know.

My reading, writing, speaking, and listening intends to discover whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice. My work is a civic endeavor with diverse-spirituality imposed by human choices. I don’t know that emotionalism is a necessary& just human condition. I assert that 5,500 years ago a culture suggested that human-being can& may independently provide order& prosperity to the lesser species and to the earth. No higher power can usurp this human opportunity. It’s a matter of reducing chaos in personal ways of living.

People like Paul, who divide human-beings on tropes about what-is-unknown, are the objects of 1 Timothy 6:5’s contempt: Paul seems to reprimand Paul.

Thank you, Jason for the affirmation of concern. I'm certain you know a lot goes into a post like that. Reading it prompts reflection.

Overnight, Phil Beaver kept proposing to modify "whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice" so as to reflect what-is. I could not equivocate, "I don't know". Note: the hyphens are not intended to annoy the reader; they are essential to my thoughts. The constraints of English& grammar stonewall thought, and it’s too late for me to accommodate scholarly censorship.

In dialogue with my Sunday school class, I expressed Ralph Waldo Emerson's influence on me. I read an online definition of "transcendentalism". My assertion that there's more to be gained from the-metaphysical-Jesus than from his body and blood, while heresy to the Church, does not oppose Emerson and his view of physics& its-progeny. In his vernacular, that was "nature", in the early 19th century scholarly debate: reason against "science", a popular surrogate for research.

Emerson's comprehension& understanding represents him as a living “Internet resource” 150 years before the Internet. Yet the popular debate that held "reason" more reliable than discovery stemmed from erroneous regard for "science", the process for affirming evidence then researching positive benefits. (For example, research nuclear reactions both to generate power and to provide military defense.) Emerson's era had not the conviction that research is grounded in perception.

Consequently, the-objective-truth is all the scientific process can affirm until the instruments for more accurate& precise research have been invented. Then, research may approach or attain the-ineluctable-truth. Ineluctable differs from inescapable in that human choice does not affect immutability. For example, the Greeks opined that the earth is a globe orbiting the Sun in 500 BC, and their opinion was partially rejected until Galileo used the telescope for astronomy in 1609 (2000 years later). Emerson's era, the 19^th century, could have extrapolated to realize that calling research "science" is ruinous to humankind. Further, fellow-citizens could accept that avoiding, changing, or resisting the-ineluctable-truth in order to accommodate the-inescapable-truth merely delays the journey to peace on earth.

But here we are in 2022, with the media, state& federal governments, plus many fellow citizens debating the reliability of science and calling statistically-designed-conducted-evaluated public-polls "science" rather than manipulation-for-political-advantage.

Forgive the outpouring on a diversion. Back to the post. These 184 years after Emerson's "Divinity School Address", I see the possibility of humankind's collective march to the-civic-good by choosing a metaphysical interpretation of the Bible’s Jesus. If so, the individual can& may maintain whatever pursuit of happiness they privately choose and still practice civic-integrity. That is, maintain fidelity in human-connections& transactions.

The New Testament reports that Jesus, in response to how much weight should be given Abraham, said, "Before Abraham I am." The “before” drops back 4.6 billion years to the formation of the earth. I assert that Jesus affirms/authored Genesis 1:28. Viewed with discoveries through 2022, that verse can be taken to mean: each human being has the individual opportunity, power, energy, and authority (HIOPEA) to constrain chaos in their lifestyle. I assert that each person may choose this principle the moment it appears to them and intend to perfect the practice each day for the rest of their life.

After a person owns the intention to perfect themselves (Emerson's "Divinity" view of Jesus), reading the Bible provides, without direct suffering beyond the time to read& think, observation of what happens when individuals choose to accommodate chaos in their way of living. If reading& thinking also establishes personal commitment to the mystery of soul and its salvation through Jesus, perhaps it’s better for that person. The personal human-being has the authority to believe in salvation of the soul as well as preservation of life.

They also have the authority to choose/ignore the Bible's debates about God, the Lord God, the Lord, the Father, the Holy Spirit, Christ, election, antinomianism, chosen people, and other lessening of the civically-good-Jesus. One alternative is to appreciate the mystery of Jesus as the human, individual yearn to practice-the-good, and humankind's intentions to discover practices that conform to the-good.

As one of the Nomads, I read Bible lessens with my evolving agenda& principles. First, Genesis 1:28, instructing female&male-human-being that they can& may independently provide order& prosperity to the lesser species and to the world seems affirmed by Jesus. Second, the "God" and "soul" debates may be accepted or rejected without lessening attention to the-civic-good as presented by the-metaphysical-Jesus. I may trust the mystery of soul to independent Jesus and therefore commit to the believers beliefs for them. Third, each moment, I choose appreciative-humility to whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice.

It's fascinating to me, Jason, that 2 decades building chance empathy can cause an outpouring like this. I have learned not to resist it, even though I have a daily schedule.

I have read lots of Emerson essays, but not much about Emerson. See about-him at emersoncentral.com and at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Waldo_Emerson. There, I noticed this quote: "I have taught one doctrine, namely, the infinitude of the private man.” That seems like his view of Jesus’ message.

I can& may write an essay on many ways Emerson expressed that thought. When I assert that the-metaphysical-Jesus affirms if not wrote Genesis 1:28, I feel Emerson, 184 years’ exponential human-discovery and Internet resources later. As far as I know, Emerson was not passionate about Genesis 1, let alone V. 28.

Adding my own life, I urge appreciative-humility-toward whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice, yet hold every fellow-citizens’ God precious to me for them. That’s Cynthia’s and UBC’s fault, as well as mine.

Comparing synonyms inescapable and ineluctable.

 

For "inescapable", merriam-webster.com opines "incapable of being avoided, ignored, or denied".

 

For "ineluctable" MW opines "not to be avoided, changed, or resisted". The English (Oxford) dictionary omits "change" for reasons they may comprehend.

 

The difference between these 2 words hinges on personal opportunity, personal power, personal energy, and personal authority. For example, the flat-earth believer may either discover the globe or make reality escapable for them: The globe does not respond to beliefs.

In another example, a person my divide personal humility between God and Jesus, never appreciating whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-choice. 

 

The ngram for "inescapable,ineluctable" is astonishing! It seems there was debate from 1550 through 1580. The publishing volume is exponentially greater today. However, the normalized-frequency for "inescapable" is now close to then: 63 v 66, respectively. Even more astonishingly, the peak frequency in the study was "ineluctable", in 1574.

I'm doing my part to increase "ineluctable" interest.

Appreciating whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-each-human-choice

I am fortunate, nearly approaching my ninth decade, to resolve a personal dilemma. Living 3 disunions: 1) my birth into a Southern Baptist, Mason, and Eastern-Star family with, excellent material commitment at relatively low income& wealth; 2) my early trust-in& commitment-to physics& its-progeny; and 3) falling-in-love with a Louisiana-French-Catholic woman. I became earnestly-conflicted when my Sunday school class of 15 years occasionally, reliably discounted our 3 children’s soul-salvations. Everyone knows that the body, mind,& person stops functioning at death, and no one knows the mystery of soul.

On request, my favorite Catholic priest could not accommodate my beliefs so that I could worship only with my family rather than also each week with my neighborhood Baptist church (Baptist friends). It seemed that each church-doctrine privately divided “God” to its believers, and the separate believers knew not how the God could be different for each of them. I perceived the-God would know if I compromised my opinion for any reason.

Everyone knows that some tyrants conquer by dividing. Believers divide over what they do not know: God. Consequently, there are 45,000 Christian sects in the world, not to mention all the other spiritual institutions. Believers discuss “God” mistakenly thinking they are on topic. But they are divided by opinion, and their passions often inspire division, perhaps unto enmity. (This is Chapter XI Machiavellianism (1517) beyond Rome.)

Three decades ago, alienating 2 Christianity-s, I took pencil and paper, intending to list God’s characteristics --to “define” God. I wrote: God is love . . . omniscience . . . omnipotence; then was stumped. Suddenly, I lost awareness, and my pencil ended up 5 feet away, under my desk. I perceive psychosomatic reaction to fruitless-arrogance.

Recently, I proposed to encourage fellow-citizens to open their minds and hearts to “the-God”, a term meant to-reserve sufficient-humility toward whatever-may-judge-human-choices, without denying private hope& comfort against the unknown. In other words, to express appreciation-to the-God and empower acceptance that each believer’s doctrinal-God represented personal hope& comfort against the unknown.

Yet there seems something arbitrary about “the-God”. Perhaps the-higher-power does not respond to “God”, in the first place. Perhaps an intelligent creator rejects worship and praise.

On further consideration, I accept, for now, that “whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-choice” expresses the higher-power I trust-in& commit-to. It’s an extension of practice, facilitation,& encouragement to the-ineluctable-truth regarding particular issues in civic-necessity& justice, without compromising private-spiritualties. I work to-learn from fellow-citizens’ experiences& observations.

Regardless of my acceptance for me, I am as dedicated to the individual believer’s spiritual hopes& comforts as I am to my wife’s private-prayer-expressions each evening.

First, I can only share my opinion, because I do not know the-ineluctable-truth. A considerate human-being works to discover, continually, during their individual, 2nd through 4th quarter centuries, after their 1st quarter century to personally accept being a human-being. Fortunate is the person who employs experiences& observations intending to perfect their-unique-good before death.

Second, I think the Bible canonizers erred when they included Genesis-1, a 3,000 year old comprehension of a now 5,500 year-old political philosophy, perhaps from Sumer.

I assert “erred”, because a modern, 2022 comprehension (based on the recent 5,500 years’ discovery) holds Genesis-1 to be artfully-neglected awareness-if-not-advice, astonishingly at the dawn of both grammar and monotheism. Then, people had perhaps 150,000 year-old language& primitive-knowledge with which to ponder individually then collaborate in essential pairs, female& male, then in groups.

The authentic female seems more reliable, and one “excuse” for her fidelity is that she is accountable for perhaps 400 ova (eggs) during her fertile years. The authentic male is no less reliable, because he knows his role is to support her& her potential crowd. (I like to joke that anything good about me is Cynthia’s fault. Our children are similarly to blame for my emerging person.)

Humankind divides into 2 groups according to willingness to choose for either necessity& justice or banal satisfactions --- responsible-human-independence (RHI) or dependence; physics& progeny or metaphysics; the-ineluctable-truth or speculation (belief); the-good or emotions. Those 2 groups subdivide unto their diversities. Through 2022, diversity diverged unto chaos.

My 2022 comprehension of Genesis 1:28 is this: female&male-human-being can& may independently provide order& prosperity to the lesser species and to Earth; provide peace; constrain chaos in-personal-behavior& in-societies; develop humankind. The rest of Bible canon debates whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-choices. Restating, the rest of the Bible journals, through 2000 years ago, how “Western” civilizations developed today’s Western chaos.

If these opinions seem plausible if not reliable, we can& may consider how to apply them. Societies ought-to practice, encourage, and facilitate self-discipline to all citizens. That’s the can& may, and there remains the how. I contend that each person self-disciplines by learning-to-apply the-ineluctable-truth. “Ineluctable”, first published 400 years ago in translation, means “not to be avoided, changed, or resisted” merriam-webster .com. In practice, each individual can& may accept& declare, “I do not know”, when they don’t know. If necessary, they share hard-earned opinion, admitting& claiming it is not the-ineluctable-truth. I refer to a particular issue, such as who caused an accident, rather than the overall validity, such as: humankind’s purpose& meaning. Notice that Europe may omit “changed” from the MW usage, leaving, for example, history open to change. Now, to your question: By developing integrity to the-ineluctable-truth, each human-being can& may appreciate& avoid the miserable dependency Paul expressed in Romans 7:15-25. Paul shamelessly cries “my mind . . . a slave to God’s law . . . my . . . nature a slave to . . . sin” as though there is no Paul-personal-discipline to consider! Moreover, Paul disassembles the Trinity in “. . . God . . . delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” He essentially discounts the-God for “our Lord” and the Old Testaments "the Lord God" and others OT Gods. And where’s his regard for the Holy Spirit?

The Christian scheme -- canonizing Jesus to compete with the Gods of the Bible is a consequence of group-search for reliable dependency – bargaining for the-God that is willing to usurp the civic-RHI that was suggested 5,500 years ago. Let me say that again: civilizations seek a God that will claim to usurp RHI.

In Sumer’s era, the individual faced physics& its-progeny, with far more uncertainty than we face. For example, we know that human-will to don wings and fly off a high cliff ends in physics. Long before, even more primitive humankind observed that the sun could kill (now we know due to overexposure) and imagined the sun a supernatural power, eventually labeled “God”. Many civilizations bargained with sun Gods, and many speculated that the-God demands human flesh. Some sacrificed chosen, excellent-citizens to the-God. Some clergy consumed the protein. Now, despite extant-modern human-sacrifice, we know the sun is a natural nuclear reactor yet have not overcome dependency on the-God for competition among self, individuals,& groups.

I am so motivated to improve the above opinions that I express them day& night, privately& publicly, to whomever seems to consider my statements. I offer dialogue for an achievable better future: reduced chaos. I offer my opinion to individuals who can& may take interest, according to their preference. I appreciate both positive& negative feedback (frequent, as these ideas are disruptive), as long as the other is civic; that is, does not attempt to harm me or mine.

For example, if someone psychologically attacks me for voting for Trump/Pence 4 times, I explain that for 5 years I wrote, appealing to their nobler motives and am very disappointed in their arrogances, especially Pence’s. However, I do not at all approve the Biden/Harris performance and will vote for Trump again if he reforms (with a non-religious V.P.), or if again, there is no better alternative. For example, I will never vote for a Clinton-family member.

Fellow citizens may take the time to explore the-metaphysical-Jesus’s affirmation of Genesis 1:28 and perhaps consider the humble-integrity that is required for RHI. It seems to me most people in the Western world have a high regard for Jesus's mysterious suggestions to the-good. Consider writing a personal paraphrase of the preamble, which offers fellow citizens mutual appreciation:  For discussion, I convert the preamble’s predicate phrases to nouns and paraphrase it for my interpretation of its proposal as follows We the People of the United States proffer & practice 5 public disciplines —- integrity, justice, peace, strength, and prosperity, “in order to” encourage & facilitate responsible-human-independence “to ourselves and our Posterity”. I want to improve my interpretation by listening to other citizens and their interpretations yet would preserve the original, 1787, text, unless it is amended by the people.

It seems the Supreme Court occasionally refers to it, and no one has challenged whether or not the preamble is a legal statement. The fact that it changed this independent country from a confederation of states to a union of states deliberately managed by disciplined fellow citizens convinces me the preamble is legal. Equity in opportunity and outcome is shared by the people who collaborate for human justice.

Every citizen has equal opportunity to either trust-in and collaborate-on the goals stated in the preamble or be dissident to the agreement. I think 2/3 of citizens try somewhat to use the preamble but many do not articulate commitment to the goals. However, it seems less than 2/3 understand that “posterity” implies grandchildren. “Freedom of religion,” which fellow citizens have no means to discipline, oppresses freedom to develop integrity.

“Ineluctable” was published as a translation in 1571. It was published with truth as “ineluctable truth” and “the ineluctable truth” in 1906. These facts may be viewed on the Google ngram viewer. So far, I have not discovered the publishers of the phrases.

I am proud of my education: Staub Elementary, Tyson Jr. High, West High school, and the University of Tennessee, all in Knoxville. I am also glad that my wife, Cynthia, and our 3 children and our associations taught me the can& may of being a human-being.

Yet I object that my educators, “journalists”, professors, scholars, the clergy, Justices, and politicians left it to a chemical engineer to coin the phrase the-ineluctable truth, the hyphens inviting the listener to not disassemble the phrase. My list reminded me of philosophers, so I searched “ineluctable” at plato.stanford .edu with its 11 documents and found no “ineluctable truth” and ep.utm .edu with its 4 documents and none with “truth”.

In my few contacts, I perceive a certain portion of our fellow-citizens resist the phrase “the-ineluctable-truth” for reasons they may comprehend. However, not one civic-citizen has expressed less than delight on being informed to consider it. Especially when I share the scenario of being sworn in to testify and clarifying with the judge that you are swearing to the-ineluctable-truth: when you express, “I don’t know” that’s as far as you will go, when that is so.

Justices& lawyers who encounter the public unleashing of the-ineluctable-truth will be prudent to take appreciative caution not to attempt to avoid, change, or resist the tsunami-like reformation of the rule of law based on legal precedent to law grounded in the-ineluctable-evidence.

Among the psychological tyrants of the past, none has generated more loss in fewer centuries than the Englishman John Locke, d. 1704. Locke seems the source of the erroneous, RHI-distracting term “common good”. He uses it 3 times in “Two Treatises of Government”, 1690.

Physics and the-ineluctable-truth do not yield to reason. Nature is physics and it answers to the laws of physics. I do not know the-ineluctable-truth, so can only share my opinion, which I did. To see how insignificant my considerations are, search “the common good” at plato.stanford.edu/. Notice that 2,870 documents were found. The first, “The Common Good”, 2018 is 24 pages long and scholarly. It mentions Locke 5 times without referencing the Locke-tyranny I raised above.

I recommend forgetting “the common good”, in order to focus on civic RHI. In other words, they never leave it to their person to approve their spirituality.

Under these principles, no one can force religious-beliefs on appreciative-human-beings. However, if someone chooses to try, the human-being accommodates the effort for 4 reasons. First, by allowing the speaker, the listener creates personal-opportunity to learn. Second, by sincerely listening, the human-being may choose to improve their opinion. Third, by considering the speaker’s opinions, the listener might suggest improvement the speaker can use. People can& may speak to the-ineluctable-truth (tIT), often admitting to self, then publically declaring privation-of-personal-knowledge to tIT. Unfortunately, many people accept/promote belief.

“Ineluctable” means “not to be avoided, changed, or resisted” merriam-webster .com, a word published 400 years ago and used with “truth” 116 years ago.

I think the Bible canonizers erred when they included Genesis-1, a 3,000 year old comprehension of a 5,500 year-old political philosophy, perhaps from Sumer.

I assert “erred”, because a 2022 comprehension (based on the recent 5,500 years’ discovery) holds Genesis-1 to be artful, neglected awareness-if-not-advice at the dawn of both grammar and monotheism. Then, perhaps 150,000 year-old language could be used to think individually and collaborate in essential pairs, female& male, then in groups.

Two groups divided according to willingness to guide actions for necessity& justice or none --- responsible-human-independence (RHI) or dependence; physics& progeny or metaphysics; the-ineluctable-truth or speculation (belief). Those 2 groups subdivided unto 2 diversities. In subsequent millennia, diversity has diverged unto chaos.

My 2022 comprehension of Genesis 1:28 is this: female&male-human-being can& may independently provide order& prosperity to the lesser species and to Earth; provide peace to most living individuals& to Earth; constrain chaos in personal behavior& in societies; develop humankind. The rest of Bible canon debates whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-choices, both individual& group actions. Restating, the rest of the Bible journals, through 2000 years ago, record how “Western” civilizations developed today’s Western chaos.

If these opinions seem reliable, consider how to apply them: Societies ought-to practice, encourage, and facilitate self-discipline to all citizens. That’s the can& may, and there remains the how. I contend that each person self-disciplines by learning-to-apply the-ineluctable-truth. “Ineluctable”, first published 400 years ago in translation, means “not to be avoided, changed, or resisted” merriam-webster .com. In practice, each individual can& may accept& say, “I do not know”, when they don’t know.

By developing integrity to the-ineluctable-truth, each human-being can& may appreciate& avoid the miserable dependency-expressions Paul shared in Romans 7:15-25. Paul shamelessly cries “my mind . . . a slave to God’s law . . . my . . . nature a slave to . . . sin” as though there is no Paul-personal-discipline to consider! Moreover, Paul disassembles the Trinity in “. . . God . . . delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!” He essentially discounts the-God for “our Lord” and the Old Testaments "the Lord God" and others.

The Christian scheme -- canonizing Jesus to compete with the Gods of the Bible is a consequence of group-search for reliable dependency – bargaining for the-God that is willing to usurp the civic-RHI that was suggested 5,500 years ago.

In Sumer’s time, the individual faced the uncertainty of physics& its-progeny. Long before, even more primitive humankind observed that the sun could kill (now we know due to overexposure) and imagined the sun a supernatural power, eventually labeled “God”. Many civilizations bargained with sun Gods, and many speculated that the-God demands human flesh. Some sacrificed their excellent citizens to the-God. Now, despite modern human-sacrifice, we know the sun is a natural nuclear reactor, but have not overcome dependency on the-God for competition among self, individuals,& groups.

In addition to spiritual hope& comfort to believers, does Jesus offer civic influence? I think so:  Jesus’s cryptic messages empower the metaphysics of our collective quest to discover and apply the-good. Recall, we are at the leading edge of 300,000 years’ homo sapiens psychological development. We are obligated to our posterity, including our direct descendants.

Just as Paul expressed opinion 2,000 years ago, Ralph Waldo Emerson expressed opinion 184 years ago: “Alone [Jesus] estimated the greatness of man . . . God incarnates himself in man, and evermore goes forth anew to take possession of his world. But what a distortion did [Jesus’] doctrine and memory suffer . . . Christianity became a Mythus, as the poetic teaching of Greece and of Egypt”.

Emerson advanced the-metaphysical-Jesus, the human collaboration to consider Jesus’ reported statements: be perfect in your can& may, before founders were born I am, help your magistrate constrain chaos, you are gods-facing-death, be humble, be peaceful, and more.

It seems Jesus affirmed Genesis 1:28, and we good-citizens can& may practice, facilitate, and encourage civic-RHI while pursuing personal-spiritual-happiness in privacy.

Here are some ideas in language few care to comprehend, as the U.S.-chaos diverges.

My prime thought is: never pass an opportunity to consider a peaceful fellow-citizen’s heartfelt civic-concerns, no matter what they are.

The person who appreciates& accepts that they are a human-being is a god-facing-death and therefore ought to respond to necessity& justice. However, not every person accepts that they are a human-being --- perhaps until death confronts them with the-ineluctable-truth.

The human-being can& may choose to be religious, and if so, religion does not relieve them of 2 self-interests: civic-integrity and spiritual-humility.

First, civic-integrity demands responsible-human-independence (RHI). RHI-civic-citizens rely on neither religious-doctrine nor civil-rule for good-citizenship. They neither initiate nor accommodate harm/injury to-or-from any person/association.

Second, even though they hope-with& take-comfort-in their spiritual-beliefs, they retain appreciation& humility to whatever-controls-the-consequences-of-human-being-choices, for short, whatever-judges-personal-choices, or response-to-can& may do good. In other words, they never leave it to their person to approve their spirituality.

Under these principles, no one can force religious-beliefs on appreciative-human-beings. However, if someone chooses to try, the human-being accommodates the effort for 4 reasons. First, by allowing the speaker, the listener creates personal-opportunity to learn. Second, by sincerely listening, the human-being may choose to improve their opinion. Third, by considering the speaker’s opinions, the listener might suggest improvement the speaker can use. Fourth, the accumulated chaos on earth is lessened each time 2 people sincerely talk, and together they might create a message all fellow-citizens can& may consider.

So, I wanted to expand on my 2-decades-old phrase "god-facing-death" and googled to find Jesus' statement about it in the Bible. I thereby stumbled upon a comprehensive article: ucg. org/the-good-news/the-surprising-sayings-of-jesus-christ-you-are-gods.

The author, Tom Robinson, did not mention Genesis 1:28, a 5,500 year-old political philosophy coming from Sumer, from which Israel emerged 3,000 years ago. The Genesis-1 author understood the creator made female& male in "our" image. Considering all that humankind has discovered in the recent 5,500 years, my comprehension of V 1:28 is: female&male-human-being, you can& may independently provide order& prosperity to the lesser species and to the earth.

I think that infers that the infant who lives within practice, facilitation, and encouragement to choose to be a human-being, can& may perfect their person before ineluctable death. A person can discover this on their own, but that is unlikely.

Another point that Robinson overlooks is that the-god-facing-death can only practice integrity during life, so the doctrine to live for resurrection may be flawed. It may be that some church doctrine defies Jesus.
