Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by listening when people share experiences and observations. The comment box below invites readers to express facts, opinion, or concern, perhaps to share with people who may follow the blog.

Note 1:  I often dash words in a phrases in order to express and preserve an idea. For example, frank-objectivity represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth despite possible error. In other words, a person expresses his “belief,” knowing he or she could be in error. People may collaboratively approach the-objective-truth.
Note 2: It is important to note "civic" as in citizens for the people more than for the city.

Our Views (celebrated high school). I agree. Maybe Gov. Edwards will too.

To Matthew White: Oil and natural gas are resources of the land---Louisiana. The subsidies that Louisiana offered to promote its natural resource came from the resource.

Our Views (Ater helped). Did Ater help Katrina victims even though Jay Dardenne opposed the help? See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Dardenne#Secretary_of_state_candidacy_and_transition .

Today’s thought (1 Peter 5:6-7). Dean omits the promise “that he may exalt you in due time.”

Thereby, Dean excludes people like me who want freedom-from oppression and the liberty-to live according to private preferences in total humility---no exaltation of my person.

Letters

Gas tax (Pecoy). I agree with your principle: local people should have more control over how revenues are spent.

For example, the Metro Council should not have the prerogative to spend $10 million on a LSU-to- capital-trolley when the people have not approved a trolley study. There’s lots more bad management at EBRP.

I want the state tax on gas to pass with better supervision of DOTD and the legislature. However, I do not want a local gas tax. EBRP government is awful. For decades it has been operated to benefit non-profit groups touted as philanthropist but actually just a politically correct business group.

Trump not his president (Stetter). Stetter, you can perfect you unique person, superior as your person may be.

That’s advice I gleaned from a two-decade effort to understand RWE’s DSA: see emersoncentral.com/divaddr.htm . Find the paragraph that starts “Jesus Christ,” and back up one paragraph then read two to learn Emerson’s source.

Scoff at Emerson’s thoughts if you like, but I prefer to take it seriously. I want Trump to succeed, not for him or me but for the people.

Mitch Landrieu (Barrilleaux). Hopefully, he has spent his political nickel and someone else will benefit. Perhaps political “Landrieu” is in the dustbin of history.

Landrieu logic (Chriestia). For that matter, the Catholic Church’s Bible condones slavery, so St. Louis Cathedral should go. St. Paul’s, too. And all the rest. Clear the field for black church and its interpretation of salvery.

Jack Hamilton guest column (fake news). It is sad to witness the status of media integrity in 2017. It does not seem to be at its nadir.

The media came to believe that liberal-democrat-opinion determines public policy and the media determine dominant-opinion. They overlooked that the USA is a representative-republic rather than a democracy.

It must feel awful to be a major player in 2017 Mass Communications education. How and when did they go wrong?

Nevertheless, you are one of the pivotal teachers in my lifetime. Thank you, Jack Hamilton.

Charles Kelly center (Page 1B). I appreciate The Advocate reporting on this alternative service for the community in general.

It seems more inclusive than the Council on Aging and receives $325,510/yr from the EBRP general fund. Yet, the games and food services are similar.

I think civic education, where “civic” refers to citizens of humanity more than citizens of EBRP, should be incorporated into the program. After all, if EBRP is paying the bill, the people (more than the taxpayers) have a stake in the activity.

Recalling Hugo Chavez, d. 2013 (Page 10A). In Venezuela, protesters against the socialist government took down five Chavez statues during two months of violence, and now his childhood home is burned.

“It is . . . symbolic that the citizens are venting their frustrations on the author of the Bolivarian revolution,” said Eric Farnsworth, VP of the Council of the Americas.

Protester permits (Page 10A). Freedom of speech on U.S. soil directed toward foreign security personnel should be constrained, because U.S. authorities have understandably limited jurisdiction in the foreign security-personnel’s space.

This is one more case wherein the balance between freedom of expression and protester license is too far toward the protester. Alinsky-Marxist organizers (AMO) do not have free reign.

Suzan Fraser and Josh Leberman might have had similar thoughts, but I doubt the Associated Press condones caution toward AMO behavior. For all I know, AP might condone yelling “Fire” in a crowded place to express AMO opinion about personal “rights.”

It seems to me that societies and cultures develop subjective, erroneous morals, so I am not a fan of sociology; most civilizations that touch me seem uncivil; some brutal; some barbaric.

Recalling David Hume’s Treatise on Human Nature, subjective studies seem unworthy. Why ponder twice two is five for even a moment? I promote civic morality rather than social morality. By “civic” I mean citizen of humankind more than of a municipality. Thus, citizens work for the people, and the municipality serves the people.

I urge persons to collaborate for civic living by using the-discovered-objective-truth. Its interrelated laws comprise an objective theory for rationally managing the unknowns. A civic person collaborates for mutual safety & security, so that willing individuals may pursue the happiness they perceive rather than an imposed ideology. Thus, the people enjoy freedom-from arbitrary oppression and liberty-to pursue private happiness rather than an imposed commonality beyond public-integrity. The-objective-truth exists, and humankind’s noble work is to discover, comprehend, and make best use of rational understanding.

Success in human living springs from a hierarchy of fidelity: fidelity to the-objective-truth, to self, to immediate family, to extended families including friends, to neighbors, to the people, to the nation, to the world, and to the universe, both respectively and collectively. The human being has the potential psychology to perfect his or her person before death, low as he or she may now be. Critical to the process is not repeating a human error. The end of this process is discovery of the person and his or her dreams.

Error that results from an undiscovered element of the-objective-truth can lead to discovery. For example, we say that the search for a short path to India led to North America’s discovery.
In an ideal civic culture, all actions conform to the hierarchy of fidelity. In real life, when there is infidelity, the errant party is the one who violated was unjust. Neither democracy nor dominant opinion that conflicts the-objective-truth influences justice. Thus, subjectivism does not impact justice to the extent that the-objective-truth is understood.

Within civic perspective rather than social perspective, absolute justice comports to fidelity.

quora.com/In-terms-of-equality-What-do-you-believe-women-rights-consists-of-when-considering-the-rights-of-men/answer/Phil-Beaver-1

I believe in comprehensive fidelity: fidelity to the-objective-truth, to self, to immediate family, to extended families, to friends, to neighbors, to the people, to the nation, to the world, and to the universe, both respectively and collectively. The human being has potential psychological power to perfect his or her person before death.

Considering a woman’s rights compared to a man’s is invitation to compare a crowd to a tyrant. A woman has, during her fertile years the potential to deliver 400 viable ova. She is caring. She seeks an authentic man—-one who understands her as the origin of his family for life. The man she chooses is fortunate, and if he is not committed to monogamy for himself, her, their children, and their grand children and beyond—-posterity—-he is not a man.

Not only is the woman the origin of life, she has a brain with neurons and synapses that are close packed: She thinks faster than a man can think. When he finds himself slow, he needs to listen to her.
The notion of “rights” is a false construct. If a person, male or female, is not dedicated to discovering the-objective-truth and faithfully conforming, his or her life may not go well. The-objective-truth brooks neither opinion, study, rational thought, arrogance, tyranny, evil, or any other human construct.

The hope for a good candle of life is based on learning or discovering the-objective-truth and making best use thereof.

I hope this helps.

Freedom of speech is limited by potential for harm. For example, you may be held responsible for yelling “Fire!” in a packed house.

I favor not granting permits for violence-inviting events. There is no excuse for knowingly putting police in jeopardy for violence-inciting expression—in the class of taunting.

There may be mutual appreciation for the opportunity to exchange expressions, whether they be sharing opinion or collaboration to consider change. The speaker is responsible for expression and consequences. The listener is responsible to hear expressions he or she does not agree with, be grateful for the opportunity to consider other experiences and observations, and perhaps speak in opposition.

If an innocent speaker makes a statement that a listener takes as an insult, the listener is responsible to say so and ask for clarification. The speaker ought to explain and perhaps apologize immediately.

It seems to me this protest is a declaration of black supremacy rather than a proposal to collaborate for public-integrity. I think the days of Louisiana Black Legislative Caucus having any civic standing are over.

It is difficult to understand how someone who accuses someone of being racist cannot perceive that they are the generator of racism. There are so many old saws: a pointed finger has three fingers pointing back at you; what goes down comes around; try a little kindness; try humility.

In the USA, every citizen has freedom-from oppression and may work to achieve liberty-to live according to personal preferences rather than an imposed cause, such as Together Baton Rouge or other "solidarity" that requires the sacrifice of your own person. Why anyone would dedicate their brief life to black supremacy escapes me. It makes no sense.

On the other hand, working for broadly-defined-civic-safety-&-security, where "civic" refers to citizens for humankind more than for the city seems worthy. Safety & security knows no skin-color.
I hope this inspires some folks to stay home tomorrow. 🙂

Phil Beaver does not “know” the-indisputable-facts. He trusts and is committed to the-objective-truth of which most is undiscovered and some is understood.
