"Civic" refers
to citizens who collaborate for responsible freedom more than for the city.
A personal paraphrase of
the June 21, 1788 preamble: We the civic citizens of
nine of the thirteen United States commit-to and trust-in the purpose
and goals stated herein --- integrity, justice, collaboration, defense,
prosperity, liberty, and perpetuity --- and to cultivate limited services to us
by the USA. I want to collaborate with other citizens on this paraphrase,
yet would always preserve the original text.
Today’s thought,
G.E. Dean (Psalms 46:10 CJB), The Advocate, March 5, 2018, 5B.
"Desist,
and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth.”
Dean says, “Be quiet. Remember, God
is still God. It is all about Him.”
David had a primitive view of
politics. A higher power would award power to a nation. Today, David’s
arrogance has spread from nations to entire cultures that imagine their
supremacy over the earth.
Dean keeps David’s ruinous
arrogance alive and The Advocate is a party to the tyranny over people. The
Advocate ought to be more responsible, to say the least.

Thank
you. I'm reading Eric Foner’s book, "Tom Paine and Revolutionary
America," 1976. It is helping me understand some fundamental civic debates
still prevalent.
For
example, independence and republicanism went hand in hand. To many people,
"republicanism" was as simple as "not a monarchy," the form
of government the states were rejecting. To others, it meant egalitarianism
under human rights bestowed upon men by God. The egalitarianism applied to
voice in public debate or political power more than economics. One group in
Philadelphia had a by-law stating that in political debate there would be no
discussion of Divinity (God).
I write to
encourage people to collaborate for mutual, comprehensive safety and security
based on the-objective-truth rather than opinion and to employ the few goals
stated in the preamble to categorize public concerns, keeping religion a
private practice for adults who gain comfort and hope without promoting civic
harm or injustice.
Abby Ellin, “The Clintons Owe Monica and Apology,” WSJ, March 6,
2018, page A17 (wsj.com/articles/the-clintons-owe-monica-an-apology-1520292148)
Bill
and Hillary owe Chelsea more than an apology.
Ms.
Ellin overlooked both Chelsea and civic morality: infidelity to your person hurts
deepest at home.
The
human person faces three powers: actual
reality, civil order, and personal behavior. Only in the latter may the person
develop the authority to cultivate fidelity during a lifetime. For the Clinton
couple, it’s too late for performance. Apologies, yes; amends, perhaps;
performance, no.
