Our Views: media spin. Spin is the media’s plan for gaining a business advantage. Their typical method is to both court and whet the dominant opinion, and they could care less what happens to the people. For example, a watcher might speculate that Megyn Kelly left Fox for business reasons rather than better opportunity to inform the people. Only a civic people may hold government to public-integrity.
Today’s Thought. Each believer’s Jesus is a personal entity. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Jesus convinced Emerson he could perfect RWE’s unique person. So convinced, RWE worked on perfecting his person. Emerson shared the source of his dangerous thought in emersoncentral.com/divaddr.htm .

Teacher Knowledge (Anderson).
Assuring current knowledge is a good idea. How far back and how comprehensive to civic morality should the testing go? Should a music teacher who still doubts evolution be allowed to teach students?

Guns (Burns).
If a doctor learns who shot a patient, is he or she required to report the information to law enforcement? If so, does the information go to the mayor, the district attorney, and the list of criminal judges? If the police, who defends their civil rights?

Hypocrite (Spillman). There’s an old saw: A racial index finger is accompanied by a neutral thumb three race accusations. It probably applies to hypocrisy, too.

Kathryn Jean Lopez column. What I appreciate most is public-integrity rather than coercion and force. I’d like to see the pope resign and become a civic practitioner. Civic differs from social in that there is no coercion beyond gifting others with civic safety and security.

David Ignatius column. How could anyone attempt to advise Trump?

Rich Lowry column.  “[Tump’s victory] could have been put together by [any republican].” Look in the mirror and say, “Writers may realize readers are not dumb.”

Robert Sameulson column
. Putin seems a stretch as surrogate for Edward Snowden’s 2013 rebuke. Whoever exposed the Democrats was surrogating the job the media neglects: discover the-objective-truth. The DMC attacked Bernie to help Hillary. DMC infighting had little influence on voters’ decisions in privacy. Do you speculate Sameulson supports social democracy rather than democratic republic?

Mayoral religious & racist quilt (1a).
Beware IFRA:  As of December 16, 2016, a Republican-sponsored law protects atheists and other non-Christians from the long-standing religion-government-partnership in the USA. We hope it will reverse Greece v. Galloway (2014) and its rotten-limb of majority opinion. In the meantime, elected officials who want to be known for civic morality may reject religion-government-partnership.

Zero child abuse (8a). Zero not a papal performance. A mayor who is a civic person could prioritize zero child abuse way above Dialogues on Race, a draconian imposition of personal opinion IMO.

EBR homicides drop (yesterday). If Dabadie’s contribution to the 22% drop is essential to the team, campaign promises may take a back seat to Security.

Recall: Phil Beaver trusts and is committed to but does not know the-objective-truth of which most is undiscovered yet some is understood. Phil works for opinion when the-indisputable-facts-of-reality have not been discovered and seeks refinement through other people’s experiences and observations. Please use the comment box below.
