Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by listening when people share experiences and observations. The comment box below invites readers to write.
Note 1:  I often dash words in phrases in order to express and preserve an idea. For example, frank-objectivity represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth despite possible error. In other words, a person expresses his “belief,” knowing he or she could be in error. People may collaboratively approach the-objective-truth.
Note 2: It is important to note "civic" refers to citizens who collaborate for the people more than for the city.
A personal paraphrase of the preamble by & for Phil Beaver:  We the willing people of nine of the thirteen United States commit to and trust in the purpose and goals stated herein --- integrity, justice, collaboration, defense, prosperity, liberty, and perpetuity --- and to cultivate limited services by the USA, beginning on June 21, 1788.
Composing their own paraphrase, citizens may consider the actual preamble and perceive whether they are willing or dissident toward its agreement.

Our Views (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/our_views/article_85918c84-9e50-11e7-b7ca-636a2127af3b.html)

It’s joyful to appreciate The Advocate view: “. . . instead of taking responsibility . . . the Legislature has once again asked Louisiana to approve three amendments.”

However, it is tragic that The Advocate exempts the erroneous governor from responsibility, for example, for not personally pushing the gas tax. Here’s a man who creates an errant mission of personal partnership with the Vatican against all public interest, meanwhile neglecting his responsibility to citizens who flooded in 2016. Now, their chances are further diminished as the state finds excuses to not deliver federal funds . . . at least, that’s the way it seems to me: in dollars, 20 million out of 1700 million delivered so far. How many million for management fees --- 6 million or my guess 40? My only authorization is concern for the flood-victims’ lives.

I like The Advocate’s vote recommendations: Yes; no; no.

Obviously, I strongly disagree with “[lawmakers have] superior leadership from Gov. John Bel Edwards.” What is The Advocate’s vision of free and responsible press?

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Matthew 5:16, CJB)
“Instead, store up for yourselves wealth in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and burglars do not break in or steal.”

Dean says “The things of this earth will not last. The things done for the Lord will.”

Matthew and Dean dole out mysterious concerns (wealth in heaven) and concrete remedies for strawmen surrogates.

In this case, a philosophy I prefer is do the work to discover the-objective-truth, comprehend the discovery, and develop fidelity to its best use. The Lord, whatever that is, (thank you Bob Dorroh) can observe my fidelity.

Avoiding gullibility to Matthew and Dean is made possible by humility.

An Alinsky-Marxist organization (AMO) operates under the principle that if you disrupt the civic order you can get your demands satisfied. When the demands are unjust AMO officials are out of sight and out of touch, but AMO recruits get hurt.

It is amazing that the NFL would stake its fortune on black vigilantism vs the police.

Mitch Landrieu started something and proudly cared nothing about the consequences.

I have no idea how the notion that black is ugly emerged. However, I am certain that what I always appreciate is good behavior. America has the opportunity to demonstrate to the world that skin color is not important, but good behavior is what counts. Many think defeating the idea that black is ugly is what’s needed. However, good behavior knows no color and must come first. The world needs the evidence that this is so, and America has the opportunity to provide the evidence.

I experience this evidence among the people I know. Where are the ones who are focused on skin color rather than behavior? Some are in the NFL. Some are mayors, franchise owners, coaches and other racialism peddlers.

The judge who claims he cannot adjudicate protection against psychological abuse in the Catholic Church because the abuse occurred within the Church has no constitutional standing to serve on the bench.

This is a 2017 case of Chapter XI Machiavellianism. That is, the clergy-politician partnership rapes the people and the people do nothing about it because of the mystery of theism.

This coming Sunday and for a long time, there should be no attendance in any nearby Catholic Church as a statement of the people’s opposition to Chapter XI tyranny.
Meanwhile, the constitutional case lives on.

Liberal democrats and other dissidents against civic morality urge “respect freedoms and each other.” Willing citizens practice “appreciate freedoms and each other.”

The First Amendment pales before the Louisiana Constitution’s gift about freedom of responsible expression. Seems like The Advocate ought to know about the difference. Why not? Or what not write about it. Does The Advocate want people to respect disrespectful speech, like “Fire!” in a crowded building? Was The Advocate born yesterday?

President Truman, on completing his presidency said he was returning from service to his role as sovereign citizen. President Trump is making the statement that as president he remains also a sovereign citizen. Maybe it is revolutionary, but I agree with him. And he defeats the irresponsible press, hands down. Benjamin Franklin wrote about an irresponsible press but did nothing about it. President Trump is doing something about it.

The Advocate’s word choice “annoy” is not representative. A better choice is disgust --- especially the unthinkable offender with the unspeakable pig socks. Maybe someday The Advocate will consider becoming a “free and responsible” press.

To Christine Kooi: That's correct.

Collectivist liberal democrats who demand respect would do better to behave so as to attract appreciation. The popular attention to respect is ruinous for people who have not considered appreciation.

Only willing people offer justice.

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Matthew 6:14, CJB)
“For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Dean says “We forgive because the Lord has forgiven us.”

Matthew and Dean make no sense, I suppose under the belief than can confuse people. I much prefer to forgive another person because I appreciate them. I do not want incidental separation from other people. However, if a person is evil, bargains with the Lord imagined by Matthew or Dean will not influence my forgiveness.

Using Merriam-Webster online, I apply "attitude: a mental position with regard to a fact or state," and "behavior: the way in which someone conducts oneself or behaves."

For example, my friend Hector seems negative regarding Christian beliefs and firm on expressing himself, yet diplomatic. As a result, his behavior is neutral --- he neither imposes coercion nor yields to coercion. For example, if someone said to him, "Christ died on the cross to redeem you of your sins," Hector might respond, "Are you certain?"

In this example, Hector's behavior might be deemed bad by a Christian but good by a diplomat. The example seems to suggest that motive or intention needs to be brought into the discussion.

Good grief! The Advocate seems to think the USA is petitioning Louisiana! “We urge Lighthizer to come to Louisiana to listen to the trade businesses firsthand.”

I urge Louisiana’s governor and Congressional delegation to visit Lighthizer and represent Louisiana’s No. 1, the people. (Not merely the voters and not merely taxpayers, I add.)

(As though I could influence either elected officials, The Advocate, or the people.)

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Psalms 143:8, CJB)
“Make me hear of your love in the morning, because I rely on you. Make me know the way I should walk, because I entrust myself to you.”

Dean says “Start your day with the Lord. He will help you throughout the day.”

David and Dean assert that the Lord is in charge of everything. Yet, believers need to tell the Lord to love, be reliable, and dictate behavior. After five decades of trying to conform to such blasphemy, I chose to exercise fidelity to the-objective-truth rather than imposed speculation and fear.

Here’s a writer who opines the sophisticated mind is really gauche; foolish. See business-standard.com/article/opinion/a-sophisticated-mind-113052401031_1.html .

Perhaps Lowry was foolish to choose this topic. I think so.

Meaningless meaninglessness (David Ignatius) usatoday.com/story/opinion/columnists/2017/09/24/trumps-welcome-flirtation-un/689840001/

Ignatius seems disingenuous when he does not admit that President Trump put the responsibility on the United Nations. Also, his warning to destroy N. Korean, in my view, was addressed to the KJ-un “depraved regime.” President Trump spoke for the North Korean people as well as for the rest of the world that want’s justice.

But Ignatius’s professional meaninglessness comes in his last cuteness: “Mr. President, let’s see what you’ve got.” Liberal democrats want to constrain President Trump in a vacuum so as to rule the world. Such meaninglessness won’t work.

Respect vs appreciation (theadvocate.com/new_orleans/sports/saints/article_8a295af8-a17d-11e7-83bb-4b699754ee38.html)

Anyone who abuses the protection of the United States of America deserves neither respect nor appreciation. Perhaps the NFL will shut down over demands for ticket refunds.

President Trump said “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners . . .” See youtube.com/watch?v=vrW-GI_9IL8. I don’t know if past presidents were as effective in expressing themselves as President Trump is: He leaves no doubt as to his views.

President Obama, lives the Robert Frost quote that a liberal can’t decide which of his opinions he supports. He spent nine minutes stating that unrespectable people should be respected [rather than fired], then claims that the protections of the United States armed forces must be, in the end, appreciated. See youtube.com/watch?v=VPqOotT_ta8 .

Obama, and his kind, liberal democrats, demand conflict for chaos. Democracy should be avoided like the plague. Willing people must preserve American republicanism --- the rule of statutory justice, otherwise known as the rule of law. (Drew Breeze rambled like a liberal democrat.)

Atheism is a leap of faith I cannot take, so I trust-in and commit-to the-objective-truth (that's not "objective truth," "truth," "Truth," "absolute truth" or any other impostor).

Humankind does not know if the limits of human perception have been reached. When I was a boy, I learned of five ways to perceive. Then I added imagination for six. There are URLs about ten dimensions; maybe more.

Perhaps it takes more than ten dimensions to perceive whatever controls the-objective-truth.

I wish my devout dad was alive so that I could express appreciation for whatever inspired his goodness. Thank you, Dad.

quora.com/Are-the-NFL-players-taking-the-best-course-of-action-in-regard-to-raising-awareness-of-inequality/

We may be specific. The NFL players who stood with their hands over their hearts during the playing of the national anthem took the best course of action in regard to addressing equality. Especially, the lone Pittsburgh Steeler did the right thing for himself.

Regarding the ones who sat, took a knew or otherwise expressed dissidence to American civic morality, it depends on their motives and convictions as to whether they took the right course of action for them. If ticket sales fall, owners will seek ways to maintain profits; salaries may suffer; the league may never recover.

During 1720 to 1765, the British colonists that realized they were being enslaved by their homeland, fellow subjects objected and eventually declared independence. They stated willingness to lose life, liberty, and fortune. They also knew that if they won independence, they would assume responsibility for the African slaves African and European traders had placed in this land.

If NFL dissidents and other entertainment celebrities are acting under comparable conviction and dedication, they are following the American civic morality. Their success/failure is in the hands of the tribunal of the American people. Consider, for example, the Civil War, waged by white champions of “more erroneous religious belief” (see the CSA’s declaration of secession). The American tribunal determined abolition of slavery.

If some dissident NFL players’ cause is misguided, they face an awakening. For example, freedom of irresponsible speech; the common sense that we are not free to yell “fire” in a crowded space. Consider the Louisiana constitution respecting freedom of expression: it holds the speaker responsible for consequences. Thus, if, through errant speech, an employee gets fired, his case is not likely to stand in a Louisiana court.

If they are volunteering their celebrity for one of the Alinsky-Marxist organizations (AMO), such as Black Lives Matter, Obama’s OFA, an affiliate of Industrial Areas Foundation such as Together Baton Rouge, or other, I’d say they are at risk for someone else. In other words, they have enslaved themselves to an organization they may not really like.

Do I think NFL players are that psychologically and politically adolescent? Yes.

Each human being is born unequal, because he or she came from a genetically unique ovum that was fertilized by a genetically unique spermatozoon. The consequential conception is unequal to all others. If the conception survives implantation, gestation, delivery, child care, and education, his or her future is in his or her hands. There is neither inequality nor equality in human existence. I’m not sure many players understand that paragraph, but they are subject to it or a more qualified view of the-objective-truth.

One other point: For the past five decades, the USA has been subjected to an attack on American republicanism; in other words, the rule of law; in other words, the constitution for the USA; in other words, the world’s best hope for the march toward civic justice. The attack was begun and is continuing under the claims of liberal democracy; in other words, factional conflict; in other words, the march toward chaos. A severe blow to liberal democracy was delivered by AMO, and that is now becoming clear.

Willing people of the United States (in their various states), will not allow the USA to fall to liberal democracy. And that is the force some NFL players and other celebrities face. I, personally, would not risk it, but to each his or her own.

Miraculous democracy (Michael Gerson) washingtonpost.com/opinions/tribalism-triumphs-in-america/2017/09/18/7c6a841a-9c95-11e7-9083-fbfddf6804c2_story.html?utm_term=.58b30be33efb
Gerson might as well call himself a thoughtless book reviewer.

It seems obvious that the solution to tribalism was offered by George Washington in his four pillars stated on June 8, 1783. His formula for sincere liberty does not play well to the theism-politician partnership established by British common law and mimicked by the American Bar Association in conflict with the preamble to the constitution for the USA. Only willing people may establish justice.

Together Baton Rouge (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/communities/westside/article_6f4f4bf6-9fb2-11e7-85bf-cff5db36bf34.html)

“. . . large numbers of well-dressed African Americans [would] occupy the urinals and toilets at O'Hare for as long as it took to bring the city to the bargaining table . . . the threat alone was sufficient to produce results.” See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Alinsky.

Imagine a similar report about Together Baton Rouge, and you may glimpse my heartfelt concern. Since Edgar Cage has no constitutional authority in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or the USA, one is constrained to ask, why does The Advocate feature his involvement in local governance? One possibility is that The Advocate is itself an Alinsky-Marxist organization (AMO) advocate.

Another, more urgent, possibility is that elected and appointed leaders fear AMO, due to past disruptions of the civic morality and civil order. I will not associate with Together Baton Rouge or its known affiliates including clergy coalitions. Clergy coalitions seem evil; by doctrine, they are competitors.

Readers may glimpse the light of sincere liberty by reading fellow citizen George Washington’s four pillars, June 8, 1783. See loc.gov/teachers/classroommaterials/presentationsandactivities/presentations/timeline/amrev/peace/circular.html. For the past 234, years, the generations have neglected the light of liberty by depending on theism-democracy regimes rather than a civic people as defined in the preamble to the constitution for the USA.

Together Baton Rouge works against personal liberty, as Tyrone Williams pointed out. “This is like joining a church; Once they get you in, there is going to be detailed involvement.” For some, that may mean jail time, fines, law suits, personal injury, even death. Consider St. Louis.

It is indeed awful, and awful that Gov. Edwards did not act faster to deliver relief --- went off to the Vatican in the meantime, for example.

Intuitively, a hurricane ought to dissipate global energy and thus reduce global temperature.
I tried to find some factual insight by googling the question, but the search system reversed my inquiry.

Do any readers know the facts about hurricanes reducing global temperature? Is it so? And if so how much temperature reduction as a function of category? e.g., 0.01 degree F for Category 5?

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Matthew 6:9-13, CJB)
You, therefore, pray like this:
‘Our Father in heaven! May your Name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us the food we need today.  Forgive us what we have done wrong,
as we too have forgiven those who have wronged us.
And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One.
For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.

Dean says “The Lord can give us victory over sin. Let’s pray and believe His word.”

Matthew and Dean assert that “Our Father” leads us into temptation or hard testing. I dispute their claim.

I think the human being emerges from the womb with human psychological powers which, if well developed, empower the person to develop fidelity to the-objective-truth that enables a path of wise choices, strength to not repeat human errors, and intolerance for bad habits. Fortunate is the person who is not influenced by Dean or like-minded people.

Fagan (Martin, Gertler) (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/article_ec3e3c18-9ca5-11e7-94bd-cfee430bb391.html)

I agree with Fagan and lobby for relief from the burden of trial lawyers.

This letter invokes the idea: My life is a pre-existing condition, so you people owe me safety and security. It seems Miss Lauer does not perceive beyond her mind.

To Fumio de la Flame:  If your comment is directed to me, it is erroneous. I promote comprehensive safety and security.

Again to Fumio de la Flame It's amazing that people anonymously practice well-known Alinsky-Marxist organization (AMO).
They don’t seem to realize Rule # 5 is right there with the others, online at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_for_Radicals#The_Rules.
Enjoy your anonymity. Maybe you should join Together Baton Rouge an affiliate of Alinsky’s Industrial Area Foundation.
Again to Fumio de la Flame You ridicule your ridicule with sleazy talk, which I won’t address.
However, your quote of the Together Baton Rouge cite is interesting. Particularly, “commitment to Judeo Christian and democratic values.” Therein lies the Alinsky-Marxist base. What are the fruits of 1700 years of Judeo Christian values? Alinsky said it was victimization by oppressing Christians. I especially like the last couple minutes of Alinsky’s claims, his justification of violence, at youtube.com/watch?v=OsfxnaFaHWI.

And consider Alinsky’s “democratic values” as conflict for chaos, as described online at newenglishreview.org/DL_Adams/Saul_Alinsky_and_the_Rise_of_Amorality_in_American_Politics/. Your liberal-democracy cause of defeating American republicanism or the continual march toward justice, won’t get anywhere by ridiculing the Phil Beaver in your imagination.

In the first place, Phil Beaver is merely a sovereign citizen of the USA, and the Phil Beaver in your imagination is exposed as a lie every time you post.

United Nations integrity (Stetter) (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/letters/article_cefa17d6-9e57-11e7-8a08-9be411accecd.html)

Stetter seems unfortunately either subjugating himself to the liberal press or is himself a liberal democrat who wants to defeat the American republic --- the rule of law. Of course, I don’t know anything and must yield to Stetter's justification for dissidence against comprehensive safety and security, if he tendered it. So far, he’s just bloviating.

President Trump appealed to United Nations members who treasure life to work together to defeat the rouge members in the very room as he spoke. Listen to Trump himself at youtube.com/watch?v=3gqyPOuVHD0. If you are in a hurry, scroll to about twelve minutes and stay at least through the transition from North Korea to Iran.

In my view, no American should be influenced by the hopes of Roger Stetter, lawyer, New Orleans. In general, influence of liberal democrats should be avoided like the plague, especially when youtube offers an eyewitness account.

Public opinion (George Will) sltrib.com/opinion/commentary/2017/09/20/george-f-will-the-steep-cost-of-cheap-speech/

Will piles on my disappointment and perception there are no journalists --- only writers.

In this column, he cites Eugene Volkh and Nicholas Negroponte to disparage the power modern media provides the citizen to express himself or herself without the constraints of “freedom of the press.” The practical meaning of "free press" has been the power of the press to suppress opinion.

Mass communications schools teach that public opinion determines public policy, and media polls control public policy. We saw how false that notion is in the last presidential election, which Will has not recovered from.

But consider my blog, created because I could not get the media to support my promotion of We the [Willing] People of the United States, as in that portion of the people in their states who trust-in and practice the civic agreement stated in the preamble to the constitution for the USA.

Over 100 posts are read worldwide. See promotethepreamble.blogspot.com. And, I am invited to join forums in foreign lands.

I regard Will’s claims against the people as cheap protectionism by a protected writer who should have retired about five years ago. I wonder if he ever thought about how to create a free and responsible press, even though I own a book about it which should be on his desk.

Racialism (William Snowden) theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/article_28a82952-9e59-11e7-bb12-c3977724a2aa.html

Snowden provides an example of misplaced priorities.

Unjust jury rules that, intentionally or not, disadvantage a faction of the people is an obvious opportunity for moral reform.

However, using the confederate monuments issue as a strawman weakens Snowden’s case. The sentiments about the monuments can be improved from assertion of white supremacy to a reminder of willing people’s intent to establish justice no matter how slowly civic dissidence lessens.

The Civil War was a war started and waged by the white race and brought on by the assertion of “more erroneous religious belief.” See the second to last paragraph at avalon.law.yale.edu/19th_century/csa_scarsec.asp . Civil war monuments should be left in place but affixed with plaques that recall the defeat of a more erroneous religious belief.

Restoring Louisiana to the unanimous jury conviction for felony offenses is a just cause that is unrelated to war over a “more erroneous religious opinion.”

Liberal democrats (Froma Harrop) creators.com/read/froma-harrop/09/17/colleges-come-to-their-senses-the-hard-way

Universities are so stocked with liberal-democrat professors it will take decades for reform to take place.

The exit of President Obama from the seat of power is helpful, but look at the burden liberal democrats impose on the people who elected candidate Donald Trump. For example, his fair challenge to the United Nations to stop rogue nation North Korea is written up as Trump threats. The liberal democrats have no shame.

Our play, “Sincere Liberty,” first presented on September 20 at Goodwood library, effectively expresses the-objective-truth, and we look forward to conducting a revision in the future.

Our Views (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/our_views/article_404bd964-93d2-11e7-8b05-1f05b5a042e8.html)

Freshly and ever remorseful over a similar event on July 21, 1991, I assert that “LSU mourns,” is woefully insufficient. Let Maxwell Gruver’s barbaric demise mark the people’s reform that has been needed for 234 years.

On June 8, 1783, fellow-citizen and Continental Army General George Washington, a devout person, addressed citizens as “your Excellency” and asserted four pillars necessary for them to establish a nation that could survive. The pillars are integrity, justice, statutory law, and good will. See http://loc.gov/teachers/classroommaterials/presentationsandactivities/presentations/timeline/amrev/peace/circular.html .

On September 17, 1787, as president of the constitutional convention in Philadelphia, Washington led the signers, the 2/3 of delegates who were willing to change from central governance by a union of states to governance by willing people in their states. The willing people are distinguished from dissidents by their trust-in and commitment-to the purpose and goals stated in the preamble to the constitution for the USA.

Some twelve generations have counted on theism-government partnership regimes to be “your Excellency,” leaving it to our generation to take responsibility for sovereignty in this nation and thereby collaborate for justice. Will we rise to our opportunity and responsibility to the nation’s children?

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Matthew 3:7, CJB)
“But when Yochanan saw many of the P'rushim and Tz'dukim coming to be immersed by him, he said to them, "You snakes! Who warned you to escape the coming punishment?”

Dean says “We should not forget that one day God will judge us.”

Matthew and Dean seem to be judging people when they are instructed not to do so. I doubt their attempts to influence.

The Advocate has reacted to at least one Constitution Day event. Some Advocates are out of town and thus not on Baton Rouge’s mind. At least two were erroneously negative about it.

It should be celebrated in parallel with Personal Independence Day, June 21, a phrase from many collaborations with Dona Bean (d. 9/20/2017) and her advocacy for individual independence.

Our Views (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/our_views/article_8f6d7af6-98ce-11e7-bd4c-a3fa61741eb4.html)

I looked up a report and found average composite score for Louisiana at 19.5 rather than 19.6: see act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/cccr2017/ACT_2017-Average_Scores_by_State.pdf. Makes me wonder about the other claims in this editorial.

With a range of composite scores of 14.4 to 26.6, it seems John White and others should be trying to mimic the best parts of the culture that produces the high scores. Why does one culture set the bar at 26.6 and lead in all but one aspirational category?

From my view point, the knowledge exists and the community does a human job of transferring it to the children. Somehow, the child may be coached into perceiving that life, perhaps eight decades, is in the person’s hands, and it is best to take charge as early as possible --- perhaps after one decade of basic learning, another decade of personal-interest discovery, and another decade of specialization so as to ascertain a good starting point for self-discovery over the entire lifetime.

Perhaps John White is working on such reform, but I’m not reading about it.

Today’s thought, G.E. Dean (Genesis 13:12, CJB)
“Avram lived in the land of Kena‘an; and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, setting up his tent near S’dom. Now the men of S’dom were evil, committing great sins against Adonai.”

Dean says “Bad company can bring bad results. Lot lost his wife and almost his life.”

Losing a spouse and almost a life is commonplace among humans. Dean’s extrapolations beyond the literature statements seem erroneous at best.

I wonder why Dean and The Advocate keep company with each other: Are their motives noble? I don’t think so but, as always, reserve the right to be wrong. Let the-objective-truth prevail.

Letters

The people won (Tramontana) (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/letters/article_d5e98ef2-9829-11e7-bcd0-d3f882c7ed3a.html)

While it is true the Clinton was an awful candidate, I don’t agree that she lost.

I think willing citizens who want the American republic that is offered by the constitution for the USA voted out of office the regime that wants liberal democracy to overthrow America.

None of the traditional GOP candidates intended to restore the American republic, but there is a chance that President Trump will rise to the possibility and is in the process now. The people who are in the resistance are enemies of the American republic.

Don’t forget, it took President Abraham Lincoln almost three years to ascertain that he was in a war and that he needed a general. I think Trump is moving faster.

Pundits poor writers (Robins-Brown
(theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/letters/article_288998ca-9823-11e7-895f-fb4903c0c870.html)

I agree. Recall Walter Williams is an economist, who happens to be a candid writer as well. Thus, there are no journalists who write.

Willing citizens are the majority (Larson) (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/letters/article_8e2a8340-9c8f-11e7-ad07-c3d9b76df3ef.html)

I nominate Larson’s as the letter of 2017 so far.

I observe the goodwill Larson describes everywhere and can usually tell when goodwill has escaped harm.

Subjugation of Italy’s migrants (Cal Thomas)
(oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2017/09/cal_thomas_the_mafia_and_the_m.html)

I wonder if the Vatican influences philanthropy in Italy.

While a judge is a person and a person thinks and some thoughts may relate to religion, religious doctrine should not influence legal opinion.

Senator Feinstein is correct to protect the people from the imposition of religious doctrine onto civic morality. One of the prime issues is abortion, whereby religious doctrine is ruthlessly in opposition to the-objective-truth.

Abortion seems a difficult issue, because men make it difficult. But religious doctrine has no standing in the civic arguments. The way thing are, a woman has sole responsibility in her decision to remain pregnant or not, simply because that’s the way things are; in other words, that’s the-objective-truth.

Many Americans did not celebrate Constitution Day, September 17, a day to sing the 1814 national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”

The lyrics for the national anthem were written in 1777 by Englishman John Stafford Smith (thank you, Rebekah Beaver), just one year after the declaration of independence in 1776.

Thus, it is possible that General George Washington was aware of the lyrics when he wrote his farewell to the Continental Army on June 8, 1783. His speech is not well known, but it, more than anything else I have read motivates me to think of him as the father of the USA, my homeland.
