Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when
the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by
listening when people share experiences and observations. The comment box below
invites readers to write.
Note 1: I often dash
words in phrases in order to express and preserve an idea. For example, frank-objectivity
represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth despite possible
error. In other words, a person expresses his “belief,” knowing he or she could
be in error. People may collaboratively approach the-objective-truth. Note 2: It is important to note "civic" refers to citizens who collaborate for the people more than for the city.
A personal paraphrase
of the preamble by & for Phil Beaver: We the willing people of nine of
the thirteen United States commit to and trust in the purpose and goals
stated herein --- integrity, justice, collaboration, defense, prosperity,
liberty, and perpetuity --- and to cultivate limited services by the USA, beginning
on June 21, 1788.
Composing their own paraphrase, citizens may consider the actual preamble
and perceive whether they are willing or dissident toward its agreement.
The Advocate seems to exercise freedom of the press to
publish self-contradiction. “The Corps has never liked the numbers on the
canal. Even so, in a display of treachery, it allowed Baton Rouge area leaders
to go forward with a tax proposal for the local matching funds.”
Corps treachery allowed? The Advocate attempts to exempt
area leaders from treachery against the people of Louisiana. (The deceived citizens
includes the voters).
Today’s thought,
G.E. Dean (Matthew 16:26 CJB)
“What good will it do someone if he gains the whole world
but forfeits his life? Or, what can a person give in exchange for his life?”
Dean says “There is nothing more important than the soul of
a person. Jesus said so.”
Dean’s mysticism may be viewed as it is. I work to practice
fidelity to the-objective-truth. It’s all I know. If there’s a soul, I had
nothing to do with its coming and don’t expect to effect its going.

Smoking cessation (Rogers)
(theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/letters/article_8ccb83e2-c4ac-11e7-bb7c-531efa3e702d.html)
After quitting
some 150 times over a decade, I woke up one morning armed with a cessation plan
and the proclamation, “I’m going to quit quitting.”
It was 1972. I have not smoked since. (I’m grateful to Carroll
Lanier for a $5 bet that I would smoke again.)
“Quit quitting.”

A column I wrote about the insufficiency of honesty—-what
teams need is integrity—-appeared in the company quarterly not long before my
retirement. The example I used is a treble lessen about integrity, but my
column only covered two lessons.
From our approved bid list, some
vendors did not answer, some offered the fabrication, and one declined to bid.
When the design engineer reviewed the bids and selected vendor with me, I asked
why the no-bid: “I don’t know.” Then, “Call and ask.” (Lesson 1, for the design
engineer.) The vendor responded, “Because with those specifications, the
fabricated piece would erode and burst in a short time.” (Lesson 2, for the
no-bid vendor: If you don’t speak, customer may ask.)
We reviewed the specification with
our technical gurus. They confirmed that the fabrication would quickly erode in
operation and changed the specified metal. We rebid the item. The no-bid vendor
was 2% above lowest in cost. Our project engineer awarded the contract to the
low-bid vendor, as usual. He was upholding fairness to bidders.
I don’t recall if the errant vendor
got the message that not communicating could have risked lives, but I hope so.
I honestly regret that I do not recall acting on Lesson 3: inform the errant
party. I do my best in fidelity to the-objective-truth, but alas, often fail.

I appreciate Dr. Dalrymple’s story.
“[Someone] asked me whether I believed . . . the possibility that a prisoner
incarcerated for a serious crime could redeem himself and be forgiven. I said
that I did not [in the legal] sense. My opponent . . . asked me whether I
preferred the rigidity of Islamic law? Had I forgotten that it was God who
would judge us all?” God is not involved in civic justice.
I’m informed by the civic agreement
that is stated in the preamble to the constitution for the USA and appreciation
for the-objective-truth. We’re informed by Scalia’s opinion that legal
“responsibility is the here, not the hereafter.” A civic people or every civic
citizen collaborates for statutory justice. “Civic” refers to justice between
citizens more than justice within a location, government, society, or
civilization. Between civic citizens, statutory law is not applicable but is
utilized; enforcement is invited only by dissidents and criminals.
The-objective-truth informs us that
human beings fail civic morality by infidelity that varies vary from ignorance,
infirmity, mistake, impulse, etc. to criminality, brutality, and evil. The
human body does not complete construction of the wisdom parts of the brain
until a quarter century has passed, and a person builds wisdom at a pace that
depends on his/her genes, memes and personal autonomy. Humans live in a world
that is confused by social morality (humans need civic morality).
When civic collaboration produces
the conclusion that an offensive practice must by challenged by statutory
correction—a fine, incarceration, or loss of life—the punishment must be
civically commensurate with the offense. The offender’s causative actions and
intentions must be weighed by civic collaborators. In some systems, a person
who disobeys a traffic signal begs a fine, whereas a heinous murderer begs
execution.
Societies who involve God in the
determinations have not established civic justice.
Phil Beaver does not “know”
the-indisputable-facts. He trusts and is committed to the-objective-truth of which
most is undiscovered and some is understood. He is agent for A Civic People of
the United States, a Louisiana, education non-profit corporation. See online at
