Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by learning other people’s experiences and observations. The comment box below invites sharing facts, opinion, or concern. If you like the wok, share with people who may be interested.
Note: I often connect words in a phrase with the dash in order to represent an idea. For example, frank-objectivity represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth without addressing possible error or attempting to balance the expression.
The Advocate:
Our views. Three courses
taught me to write to the audience.
Today’s thought. Psalms 66:18. Is
David blaming the Lord for David’s behavior?
Is
fidelity to the-objective-truth rather than entreaty to mystery the better
human expression?
Letters:
Obamacare
(Hale). Quoting Gov. Edwards, “. . . the more important goal is to
give people better health.”
I spend about 90 minutes a day on my
health. It consists of strength and stretching at several stations plus 30 to
60 minutes brisk walk (slow enough to avoid angina but brisk enough to
circulate blood and get my heart rate up). I finish with about 15 minutes
trying to witness a new skate-board or BMX bike feat.
I don’t drink enough water but
maintain a steady weight and limit alcohol to 2 glasses wine or two beers at
supper. About 8%-9% of my awaking-hours exercising to keep my doctor visits to
routine check-ups rather than search for effective drug or surgery.
It takes private dedication for a
body and mind to give its person good health. (If that did not have meaning,
please give it another chance.) A governor who purports to “give” health is
taking from the people who could effect good health for their persons.
Meanwhile, that governor drives the state to financial ruin.
McGee does a disservice to mental
patients by mixing improved mental-health-care with Medicaid. If I were NAMI,
I’d make certain McGee issues no more personal opinions. It's bad publicity on
par with Gene Mills writing for LFF.
Planned
Parenthood (Galland). Galland and others may separate the issues.
MWW does not want to pay for sex for
fun. She has no problem with recreation parks but would not contribute to a facility
for sex-for-sport, team sex, and such. The privacy of sex demands personal
responsibilities.
IMO intimacy is for human bonding
and appreciation. Sexual-intimacy is for mutual-commitment. Sex may also be for
extending mutual appreciation to children through procreation.
MWW especially opposes abortion for
fun. She and I both view our opinions as civic morality rather than either
social morality, religious morality, or other form of civilization. We prefer
to be privately-civic rather than suffer civilization or other imposition. My
guess is we are fiscal conservatives and civic republicans. (Look those terms
up if you don't understand them; you'll be delighted, IMO.)
Civic-morality or public-integrity
addresses the-objective-truth. Planned Parenthood (PP) does not face the
reality of its services: Some PP services exploit sex for fun, a private rather
than public practice.
Student obstacles (Washington). Thank you for sharing your frustration but more importantly
for your service to children.
Being able to learn in the midst of
chaos is perhaps a skill today’s children need to face their future. It might
help to read Kahlil Gibran’s poem “On Children,” online at katsandogz.com/onchildren.html
.
Here’s my adaptation:
Your students participate yet belong not to you.
You give them your appreciation but not your thoughts,
for they have their own thoughts.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make
them like you.
For humankind’s psychological maturity goes not
backward nor tarries with yesterday.
Revised

Children”.
Rich
Lowry column. There you go again---labelling President
Trump and speculating on what he should be other than President Trump.
Charles
Krauthammer column. Who is making money on the rabbit
hole? I posit it is the media and that you should have suggested it, Krauthammer.
Eugene
Robinson column. It’s
true IMO: The GOP is failing on repealing and replacing Obamacare.
Felon
voting (Page 1B Mar 13). This case is a good
illustration that the preamble to the constitution for the USA may be used to
distinguish a civic people from dissenters. A civic people willingly
collaborate to achieve the aims and purpose of the preamble.
By all means, I hope Judge Kelley rules that changing
“under an order of imprisonment” to mean “in prison” would require amendment of
the 1974 state constitution.
To Scuddy Leblanc: I think first offenders should be required to study,
comprehend, and adopt the preamble to the constitution for the USA.
Anyone whose offense denies them
suffrage should be required to paraphrase the preamble to the satisfaction of
the court, then sign a statement of trust and commitment to their paraphrase.
After
Kelly’s decision:
Kelley said to the plaintiff, "If I take your position I'm bending the
law. I like your position."
I appreciate Kelley’s decision but
want legislation that would hold him responsible for expressing opposition to
his decision and agreement with the plaintiff’s opinion. Contrary to merely
bending, if Kelley bends he breaks the law: He is bound under oath to defend
the Louisiana Constitution.
The plaintiff and Kelley opined the
peoples' “under an order of imprisonment” means “in prison.” No bending there;
only breaking.
The Louisiana Constitution says
anyone is entitled to their expressions. However, they may be held responsible
for the consequences. I recommend the Legislature put enforcement behind the
state’s civic provision respecting expression.
In future incidents like this, for
example, when prudence begs silence but the judge expresses low appreciation
for the state constitution, require the judge to pay court costs for ensuing
appeal of his decision. I expressed request for consideration to my state
representatives.
Of course, I know nothing beyond
being a sovereign citizen who seeks civic justice despite lawyers and judges
and civil opinion. A civic people pay too much for uncivic civil debates like
this one.

Walt

Edmonson
(Page 1A). I thought Edmonson did a
good job last summer, but have always been upset with the money grab he seems
to be in. I worry more about the competence of his bosses. I guess that’s
Jindal, Edwards, and Leblanc. Ultimately, it’s we the civic people of Louisiana
who are responsible for public-integrity.
Wiretapping
evidence (Page 3A). The evidence for Russian
contact is the fact that Hillary lost the election---a strawman argument, which
is fallacious. Russians influenced neither my vote nor Louisiana’s vote-count.
King
remarks (Page 7A). Perhaps King is bumbling for a
statement that if a person does not want to assimilate with Americans, they
should not be admitted as immigrants. If so, I wish he would stop blasting out
substitute statements. If he’s representing the people of Iowa, they need to
make it plain that they agree with him.
Turkey
sanctions Dutch (Page 8A). It seems to me Turkey is
trying to influence Holland to civilly accommodate the Turkish minority in
Holland Turkey’s way. If so, I defend Holland. This doevetails with my
recommendation that the USA require applicants for immigration to paraphrase
the preamble to the constitution for the USA to the USA’s satisfaction then
sign a pledge to trust and commit to their paraphrase.

This morning the sun was hidden
from view by the earth in its daily rotation toward the east but appeared as
usual. This evening, the rotation will re-hide the sun.
(Forgive me for being such a
nerd.) But this perspective extends the joy, for example, in realizing how fast
we are moving. Either phrase, sun-rise or sun-set brings to mind the wondrous
fantasy-of-reality.
