Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by learning other people’s experiences and observations. The comment box below invites sharing facts, opinion, or concern. If you like the wok, share with people who may be interested.
Note: I often connect words in a phrase with the dash in order to represent an idea. For example, frank-objectivity represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth without addressing possible error or attempting to balance the expression.
The Advocate:
Sadly for everyone, Sheriff’s Lt. Shawn Anderson
was buried today.
Our
Views. The
value I see in this cute take on boy scouts is distraction from the people’s
intense train wreck that is Gov. John Bel Edwards' leadership.
Just before the legislative session
in April, he proposes “sales tax on steroids,” I suppose to derail possible discussion
of spending reform.
On Aug 12, 2016, this area suffers
$9 billion in flood losses and Edwards dribbles out requests for federal aid
such that seven months later there’s no money in victims’ home-rebuilding. See
the sordid story as of Jan 5, 2017 at
nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2017/01/louisiana_flood_of_2016_federa.html . Also,
see the announcement that Edwards visited Washington on Feb 8, 2017 for $2
billion more at
http://gov.louisiana.gov/news/edwards-to-travel-to-washington-to-lobby-for-additional-flood-relief-2-8-17
. That was only 19 days after President Trump’s inauguration.
Then, Edwards was celebrating a Vatican partnership on a home for 16 human-trafficking victims (usatoday.com/story/news/local/louisiana/2017/01/18/gov-edwards-la-delegation-meet-pope-francis/96741516/ ).
On March 22 Edwards asked the state
to open its doors to 45,000 flood victims as a lawsuit was entered by the firm
that would manage $1.6 billion in federal funds for 16% of the funds.
I regret my vote for Edwards---wish
I had exercised no vote.
Now, there’s a Boy Scout story about
not being impressed with West-Point-credentials.
Individual Boy Scouts may volunteer
to help establish a civic culture, where “civic” refers to citizens
collaborating for personal justice for the people in this place rather than for
dominant political opinion for "civilization." Civic collaboration
may start with the preamble to the constitution for the USA.
Today’s thought Ephesians 5:1-20, focus on
16.
Paul or the writer expresses confusion that could end a people.
For example, V
18 expresses the power of the Spirit as physical, like wine. Indeed the
Christians left Ephesus in 1922: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_of_Ephesus#Ottoman_period
.
There always has been civic conflict, so people may compare good and bad.
We feel that the idea of establishing a civic culture, where “civic” refers to
people collaborating for broadly-defined safety and security but otherwise
pursuing real-no-harm private hopes and dreams is achievable. In a civic
culture, every real-no-harm religion flourishes of, by, and for the believers.

Nothing to hide (Layzell) LSU seems
arrogant, and Layzell may be caught in it.
LSU First (Applewhite). I agree.
Alexander does not seem to put LSU first.
For
example, Alexander’s “Moment or Movement” symposium last Oct -3-4 was
incredulous. I heard a featured speaker extol a society that happily seeks to “slip
it in.” Also, I was instructed that public opinion determines public policy.
Also, the history of slavery begins in the USA, in particular, in Baton Rouge.
I’m
still out on my old-white-man-limb, taking my meds, exercising, and tending to

Repeal Obamacare: that’s it (Doremus). Well
said.
On the other hand, your motive seems to be to preserve the Republicans over the Democrats. It would not bother me for the GOP to disintegrate because a civic culture is being established by the people.
That is what I voted for when I voted for Donald Trump---the chance for a non-politician to actually serve the people and help them establish public-integrity. I was delighted that Trump defeated the career GOP power, and don't know what he will actually do. I have written before that it might take three years for his good to happen.
Abraham Lincoln did not accept that he was in a war and must win for three years. On March 10, 1864, he acted.

Rich
Lowry column. I think splitting both the GOP and the
DNC would be good for the USA.
Michael
Gerson column. What arrogance: [Trump’s] dehumanization of migrants and
Muslim refugees would indicate” Trump “does not view liberty as a universal
gift.”
Gerson expresses neither humility nor self-respect.
Illegal aliens and Muslims who recommend violence and death to infidels
dehumanize themselves. Philanthropists who would impose liberty for criminals
and other evil people are collaborators against the people.
E.
J. Dionne column. Dionne
hides from the facts.
Under Obamacare, the uninsured has a right to pay to
the IRS a tax on the non-insurance-purchase if the uninsured opts to not buy
insurance because he or she is presently healthy and does not choose to pay the
high cost of Obamacare. If catastrophe comes, the uninsured may pay for
Obamacare, move to the rolls of the insured, and stop paying the IRS tax on the
non-purchase.
This is the madness President Trump is undoing and
Dionne would hide from me if he could. Let’s speculate that Dionne is
attempting to shield Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts for his hand in
calling a fine a tax (on a non-purchase).
James

Tom Robinson: The

For example, for catastrophes like
the floods of 2016 have a states-collaborative fund that has no federal input.
The people may establish

announced, everything that follows is “divisive rhetoric.” The sooner black
people consider the preamble the better. Let them divide themselves: Either
civic person according to the preamble to the constitution for the USA, or
dissident person. It has to do with trust and commitment to that civic contract
rather than with skin-color or ethnic background.
