Phil Beaver works to establish opinion when the-objective-truth has not been discovered. He seeks to refine his opinion by listening when people share experiences and observations. The comment box below invites readers to express facts, opinion, or concern, perhaps to share with people who may follow the blog.

Note 1:  I often dash words in phrases in order to express and preserve an idea. For example, frank-objectivity represents the idea of candidly expressing the-objective-truth despite possible error. In other words, a person expresses his “belief,” knowing he or she could be in error. People may collaboratively approach the-objective-truth.
Note 2: It is important to note "civic" refers to citizens who collaborate for the people more than for the city.

Our Views (theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/our_views/article_b2db4202-51f7-11e7-a72c-cb9c1e689a8b.html)

HB598 seems another cooperation by Gov. Edwards, Louisiana legislators and the DOTD to hold the people who work and the USA (people who must pass through I-10/I-12) hostage for more favor to individual politicians.

I should have recognized my gullibility when candidate Edwards promised that the people of Louisiana would be No. 1. My vote cannot be redeemed, and I apologize to Louisiana.

But the people may look to each other for justice---that is, collaborate for comprehensive safety and security: Elect representatives who will collaborate with the civic people. Borrowing words from online, nytimes.com/2017/06/10/us/politics/politics-religion-liberal-william-barber.html, “Those [who collaborate may] include blacks and Latinos, women and gays, Catholics inspired by Pope Francis . . . Jews, Muslims . . .  Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists, [the religious right and individuals, reflecting] the country’s religious diversity. Such a loose alliance of people of many faiths, many causes — and no small number of intractable disagreements — may” collaborate for comprehensive safety and security.

Using comprehensive safety and security as the transcending integrity, the majority may lessen misery and loss that is caused by dissidents. Dissidents oppose comprehensive safety and security for reasons they may or may not understand. Often, politicians merely want political power.

Columns.

Great divide (Mark Ballard). Thank you, Mark Ballard and The Advocate for sharing exemplary comments. We propose civic collaboration for comprehensive safety and security.

US Rep. Garrett Graves said, “Politics, in many cases, have devolved into a dehumanized blood sport." Dehumanizing is the best descriptor of the worst aspect of the times we are in.

State Rep. Patricia Haynes Smith said, “Some people didn’t care about what they said or how they hurt others.” I get negative response when I express that appreciation is more important than respect.

State Rep. Kenny Havard said, “When you turn around and look . . . there’s no one there from your district . . . right-wing or real left-wing, [special interests compete] to hold on to their kingdom.” That’s because citizens have not the parochial propriety for the politicians. Citizens don’t accept the politician's view that constituents are present to be persuaded rather than to collaborate.

I witnessed at the State Capital in 2015 and 2016 as a sovereign citizen, and I really do not want to subject myself to the Louisiana Legislature’s “propriety” again in in my lifetime. I will if I must.

James Poulos wrote, “Put bluntly, the case for human freedom cannot succeed if the case for being human fails.” (essay, “Real World Infrastructure,” National Affairs, No. 31, Spring 2017, page 77).

I think twelve generations of neglect of the civic agreement that is stated in the preamble to the constitution for the USA has dehumanized the USA. However, a super-majority may rise above the divisive factions by collaborating for comprehensive safety and security as our transcending integrity. Integrity means both understanding and wholeness. In other words, the super-majority may influence all factional associations to collaborate for comprehensive safety and security. Our generation has this opportunity.

Because these political ideas exist, they may be achievable. Consider joining the discussion at Goodwood Library on Wednesday, June 21 at 7:00 PM, perhaps until closing. It’s the fourth annual Ratification Day celebration. Blame Gov. Edwards (Jeff Sadow). theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/opinion/jeff_sadow/article_f9b6b8ac-5132-11e7-9527-7b53e17422a4.html

Week after week Sadow writes what I’m thinking, often with facts I did not know.

Regeneration (George Will). (arcamax.com/politics/fromtheright/georgewill/s-1967192)

This is the most exciting program I have read about in the last decade. See hudsonlink.org/hudson-link-in-the-news/filmvideo/ . Thank you, George Will, for bringing this to my attention.

Naturally, I imagine leveraging the idea using the program described at cipbr.blogspot.com/2016/09/child-incentives-brief.html . Imagine 90% less incarceration because every newborn is recognized as an elite person and therefore has the opportunity of an elite education if he or she takes charge of some two decades acquisition of both understanding and intent to live an authentic life according to his or her preferences.

Gun carriers (Page 3A). (chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-black-gun-owners-castile-acquittal-20170617-story.html)

America offers citizens freedom-from oppression and opportunity to acquire the liberty-to live according to responsible personal preferences rather than someone else’s ideals. Freedom-from and liberty-to is the American dream. Once, vigilantism was traditionally practiced. Self-defense under personal attack is still honored. However, by civic agreement, a monopoly on public force is assigned to the police.

According to freedom from and liberty-to, people may be licensed gun-carriers or not. However, when, for any reason, a person is required to cooperate with the police, a citizen’s vigilante behavior or arrogance begs woe. Anyone who does not understand that the proper response to a police person is immediate cooperation and expression of submission may debate the concept with other citizens. Nevertheless, there will always be dissidents to comprehensive safety and security. Dissidents must be constrained, and that is the first responder’s function.

Richest rich (Page 15A). (bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-16/the-u-s-is-where-the-rich-are-the-richest)

I find this point very interesting: “Where is all this wealth coming from? The sources are slightly different in the U.S. compared with the rest of the world. Globally, about half of new wealth comes from existing financial assets—rising stock prices or yields on bonds and bank deposits—held predominately by the already well-off. The rest of the world’s new wealth comes from what BCG classifies as ‘new wealth creation,’ from people saving money they’ve earned through labor or entrepreneurship.”

I think the reason for this disparity is that in the US, poverty income is around $20 K, median cost of living is around $50 K, and the highest paid profession is anesthesiologist at nearly $300 K. This argument excludes the multimillion dollar CEOs. Save and invest so as to accumulate wealth for retirement does not work when you do not make enough to live on.

It is wonderful that the study is available online: image-src.bcg.com/Images/BCG-Transforming-the-Client-Experience-June-2017_2_tcm9-161685.pdf . I glanced at it and want to read it when I can take a couple days.
