Dean says, “There is no one like the Lord. Worship him and serve him.”

What Dean does not share is that Amos 4:1-11 lists reported, historical harms to Israel and thereby establishes the awe in verse 12. The God I respond to does not perceive a need to threaten me beyond the physics and psychology I face every day. I work to face reality. I support neither 2700 year old “scripture” nor Dean’s interpretations of selected versus.

Gnady laments most New Orleans citizens not influencing government respect for the property the citizens own. US citizens have been influenced to neglect personal sovereignty.

  

The civic agreement in the preamble to the constitution for the USA has been offered to willing citizens for 229 years now---12 generations. The unwilling are dissidents against the preamble, intentionally or not:  Inhabitants are split between a civic people and dissidents. “Civic” refers to citizens collaborating for life more than for the city, traditions, or other associations.

In 1863 Abraham Lincoln perhaps cited the preamble’s civic agreement as government of by and for willing people, without admitting that it was a hope more than practice. In 1861, Lincoln had stated that only the people could provide “ultimate justice.”

Past political regimes influenced the people to neglect the preamble, perhaps in order to promote control by the government more than the people. Consider perhaps the 1954 introduction into the pledge of allegiance, “under God,” which makes the government seem divine. The religion-government partnership does not offer justice. Only willing people can reform their government as well as their institutional religion or none.

A Louisiana non-profit education corporation, A Civic People of the United States, Baton Rouge, has promoted the preamble in four annual celebrations of June 21. On that day in 1788 the constitution for the USA was ratified, establishing a nation with nine states. The four remaining independent states that were recognized by the Treaty of Paris, 1783, could join the USA.

During our 2017 meeting, we changed the title of our celebration to “Personal Independence Day.” That title recognizes America’s freedom-from oppression and each citizen’s opportunity to acquire the liberty-to pursue personal preferences more than local, state, national, or other ideological goals.

By September 17, 2017, the next Constitution Day, we hope 2/3 of Baton Rouge citizens if not Louisiana citizens will be reading, considering, paraphrasing, and practicing the civic agreement that is stated in the preamble. We hope 2/3 or citizens will be collaborating for comprehensive safety and security.

Lowry starts, “With the Left feverishly attempting to squash unwelcome speech on college campuses, with the president of the United States musing about tightening libel laws, with prominent liberals asserting that so-called hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment, free speech in America at least has one reliable friend — the Supreme Court of the United States.”

Meandering through “The Slants” and the “Redskins” and the Patent and Trademarks Office, Lowry ends “In this case, they came for a self-described “Chinatown Dance Rock” band with a cheeky name, and the Supreme Court said, Sorry, not in America.”

People who understood Lowry are better readers than me: I thought he was concluding that the US Supreme Court had said to the Leftist (Obama) administration, “Sorry, not in America.”

I finally found a way to understand Dionne:  Even though he is James Comey’s senior, like Comey, Dionne is a product of the nanny date.

Thus, he has the psychology to honestly admit in writing that he has no integrity.

I don’t use “liberty” and “freedom” interchangeably and would not use one to define the other. Thus, I do not accept your premise.

The civic agreement proposed by the preamble to the constitution for the USA offers freedom from oppression. Willing citizens collaborate for comprehensive safety and security. Thereby, each person may acquire the liberty-to pursue the happiness they perceive rather than a community ideal.

If a good or service being advertised is not useful for a person’s happiness, they take no interest in it.

Freedom-from oppression is provided by the collaborating persons, while the liberty-to pursue private interest is an individual responsibility. There are dissidents against both freedom-from and liberty-to.
